About this role

Role Purpose

To support robust financial performance management across APG by delivering timely analysis, forecasts and plans; identifying exceptions and driving closure; enabling consistent implementation of group finance policies; strengthening customer credit management; and coordinating finance-related technology solutions between international units, corporate functions and technology partners.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monthly Financial Performance Review & Management Reporting

- Review and analyse the monthly financial statements of International subsidiaries/units, including performance against Plan, Last Year (LY) and the immediately preceding period.

- Identify material variances, unusual trends, exceptions and aberrations; establish the underlying business and accounting reasons with the respective units; and highlight significant matters to leadership.

- Prepare a concise financial performance synopsis by the 7th of each month and a detailed performance review document by the 12th, based on the agreed monthly reporting calendar.

- Build clear, decision-oriented commentary covering key performance drivers, risks, emerging issues and follow-up actions.

2. Forecasting, Annual Planning & Board Reporting

- Prepare quarterly Board presentations covering APG financial performance against Plan and LY, with relevant trends and management commentary.

- Develop periodic financial forecasts by collating unit inputs, reviewing assumptions, challenging inconsistencies and incorporating agreed moderation.

- Coordinate the annual financial planning exercise for APG, including collection of unit submissions, management of review iterations and timely submission to Corporate Finance.

- Review unit annual plans for accuracy, completeness, internal consistency, quality of assumptions and strength of business rationale.

3. Governance, Policies & Unit Enablement

- Act as a key interface between International units and Corporate Centre functions, including Corporate Accounts, Finance, Secretarial and Taxation.

- Facilitate implementation of group policies, controls and procedures in a manner appropriate to each unit’s size, operating model and local context.

- Support units in resolving practical challenges in complying with group requirements, while maintaining the required governance standards.

- Drive adoption of finance best practices and new requirements across APG; track identified gaps and support structured closure.

4. Customer Credit Management

- Monitor key customer credit metrics and exceptions to reduce the risk of receivables becoming overdue or doubtful.

- Partner with units to strengthen credit discipline, follow up on collection risks and support recovery plans for receivables classified as doubtful.

- Provide periodic visibility to leadership on significant exposures, trends and actions requiring intervention.

5. Finance Technology & Process Improvement

- Identify finance and related process requirements where technology can improve control, efficiency, accuracy or management visibility.

- Interface between International units, the Central IT function and technology partners to define requirements, support solution design, coordinate implementation and facilitate user adoption.

- Support continuous improvement of finance reporting, analytics, consolidation and workflow processes.
