Newbuilding (NB) Surveyor

As a Newbuilding Surveyor, you will be responsible for verifying shipyard activities and ensuring compliance with DNV rules and internationally recognized standards. You will conduct on-site inspections and surveys covering a broad range of technical disciplines, including:

- Hull structure and equipment
- Machinery and marine systems
- Fire safety and lifesaving appliances
- Electrical installations
- Control and monitoring systems
- Statutory compliance

In this role, you will work closely with shipyards, owners, and other stakeholders to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of vessels under construction.

Certification of Materials and Components (CMC) Surveyor

As a CMC Surveyor, you will be part of a highly qualified team delivering surveying, auditing, and certification services to both the maritime and offshore industries.

Your responsibilities will include the certification of equipment and systems in accordance with classification society rules and standards, as well as the verification of products against recognized industry specifications. Upon customer request, you will visit manufacturing facilities and customer sites to perform surveys and inspections.

These activities may include witnessing and reviewing:

- Welding processes
- Non-destructive examinations (NDE)
- Factory acceptance testing
- Material certification and documentation
- Quality assurance and manufacturing processes

What You'll Do

- Possibility to travel extensively, particularly during the initial phase of the role. Travel will primarily be domestic.
- Work regular business hours with occasional extended periods and irregular schedules based on project demands.
- Manage multiple small- to medium-sized projects with varying durations and levels of complexity.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with DNV Rules, IACS requirements, industry regulations, international standards, internal procedures, and customer specifications.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding clients' business operations, processes, designs, developments, and documentation.
- Support customers in resolving technical and commercial challenges, delivering effective and timely solutions.
- Manage projects and orders throughout the entire lifecycle, from quotation to project completion.
- Perform surveillance of fabrication and manufacturing activities, including review and approval of documentation related to production, testing, and quality assurance at vendor and shipyard facilities.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, proactively addressing challenges and supporting customer needs.
- Prepare and issue survey reports and final deliverables, clearly documenting survey activities and findings.
- Support financial processes by assisting with invoicing and accounts receivable activities.
- Participate in business development initiatives and internal projects aimed at improving DNV's services, processes, and operational efficiency.

Location

This position is based in our Rio de Janeiro, Brazil office.

- Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering. Other four-year engineering discipline degrees will be considered, e.g. other Engineering Technology degrees. New graduates and upcoming graduates are also welcome to apply.
- Advantage is knowledge within maritime/offshore industry and/or previous qualification within technical disciplines.
- Fluent English and Portuguese.
- Demonstrates a strong willingness to support and adapt to evolving digital processes, leveraging emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Hold a valid driver's license is an advantage.
- Solid knowledge in MS Office package.
