Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Systems Engineer to support and enhance digital manufacturing systems within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role focuses on manufacturing execution systems, electronic batch records, manufacturing data collection, reporting solutions, equipment integrations, and digital transformation initiatives. The Manufacturing Systems Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining system reliability, supporting manufacturing operations, improving data accessibility, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. This position collaborates closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Operations, IT, and Digital teams to support continuous improvement and operational excellence. Responsibilities

- Support digital manufacturing systems utilized for materials management, manufacturing execution, data collection, and reporting.
- Provide daily troubleshooting and issue resolution for manufacturing software and hardware systems.
- Maintain and improve manufacturing execution systems (MES), electronic batch records (EBR), digital logbooks, data collection platforms, and reporting tools.
- Support system configuration, performance optimization, and ongoing enhancements.
- Create and modify electronic forms, system workflows, and digital processes.
- Support manufacturing data strategy initiatives, reporting solutions, and analytics improvements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, configuration specifications, and system records.
- Assist with the evaluation and implementation of emerging digital technologies and automation solutions.
- Support equipment integrations and connectivity between manufacturing systems and production equipment.
- Participate in change management activities, including configuration updates, testing, and documentation.
- Support software verification, validation, and system lifecycle activities.
- Maintain documentation and records in accordance with GMP and quality system requirements.
- Coordinate routine system maintenance activities with IT, system owners, and software vendors.
- Support system deployment, user adoption, training coordination, and communication activities.
- Assist manufacturing teams with system utilization and issue escalation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align digital solutions with operational and business requirements.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Familiarity with SQL and database querying for reporting, troubleshooting, and analysis.
- Experience troubleshooting software applications, manufacturing systems, or operational technology environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience developing, maintaining, or supporting technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience supporting manufacturing execution systems (MES), electronic batch records (EBR), or comparable manufacturing technologies.
- Knowledge of GMP principles and regulated manufacturing practices.
- Familiarity with manufacturing data historians, reporting tools, or manufacturing analytics platforms.
- Ability to support validation, change management, and system maintenance activities.

- Experience supporting digital manufacturing platforms, orchestration systems, or digital logbook solutions.
- Familiarity with data platforms such as Snowflake or similar cloud-based analytics environments.
- Experience supporting RFID technologies, industrial automation systems, or manufacturing data collection systems.
- Exposure to Artificial Intelligence applications within manufacturing environments.
- Experience working with electronic forms, workflow systems, and manufacturing data solutions.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, medical device, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
- Experience supporting user training, technology deployments, and change adoption activities.
- Experience collaborating on digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience supporting manufacturing analytics, reporting solutions, and data strategy programs.
- Interest in developing expertise within manufacturing systems, automation, and digital technologies.

Work Environment

The environment includes exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies, manufacturing execution systems, electronic batch records, data historians, automation platforms, cloud-based analytics tools, and emerging digital solutions designed to improve operational performance and manufacturing effectiveness.

This is a Contract position based out of Groton, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
