About the role:

The Senior People Operations Specialist is responsible for executing core employee lifecycle processes with accuracy, consistency, and care, ensuring that people data, records, and transactions are reliable, compliant, and audit-ready.

This role is a key part of the operational backbone of the People & Workplaces function. By ensuring that systems and processes work as designed, the People Operations Specialist enables employees, managers, and leaders to trust how people-related work gets done.

Responsibilities:

- Executes onboarding, offboarding, and employee changes accurately and on schedule

- Maintains complete and accurate employee records across systems

- Supports employment changes including transfers, leaves of absence, and status updates

- Ensures all lifecycle actions are documented and processed in accordance with policy and controls

- Supports payroll and benefits execution, including processing and updates, by ensuring data accuracy and timely processing

- Partners with payroll vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies

- Assists with benefits administration, enrollments, and employee inquiries

- Escalates payroll or benefits issues promptly when risk or error is identified

- Maintains accurate data in HRIS, ATS, payroll, and benefits systems

- Performs regular data audits and reconciliation checks

- Supports reporting and analytics by ensuring data completeness and consistency

- Follows access controls, documentation standards, and data privacy requirements

- Executes policy changes and updates in systems and documentation repositories

- Ensures correct version control and distribution of people policies

- Maintains records in compliance with retention and audit standards

- Supports audit preparation and documentation requests

- Identifies recurring issues or inefficiencies in processes or systems

- Proactively flags risks, errors, or gaps to the Director, People Operations & Infrastructure

- Contributes to process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce error

- Supports testing and rollout of system enhancements or new tools

- Processes invoices and expense submissions

- Plans and executes employee engagement activities, including company events

- Supervises the People Operations Coordinator, where applicable

- Takes on additional duties/responsibilities from time to time, as needed

What We're Looking For:

- 3–6+ years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, or a related role

- Hands-on experience with HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-moving environment

- Comfort working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality

- Clear written and verbal communication skills

The range below may vary if based outside the New York tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut). Base salaries are determined during our interview process, during which we assess the candidate's experience, skills, and capabilities against internal peers and the scope and responsibilities of the position.
US Pay Transparency $125,000 — $150,000 USD
