Position Summary

The Construction Manager is responsible for leading field execution across assigned projects from preconstruction and mobilization through commissioning and project closeout. This role is accountable for constructability, manpower planning, labor productivity, prefab execution, field coordination, schedule adherence, safety, quality, and overall operational performance.

The Construction Manager serves as a key connection between project leadership and field operations, ensuring projects are properly planned, staffed, coordinated, and executed. This position works closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, Field Operations Managers, Superintendents, Project Controls, BIM/VDC, Prefab, Procurement, Safety, and Operational Assurance.

A primary focus of this role is driving field productivity and operational consistency . The Construction Manager will proactively identify project risks, remove field constraints, maximize prefab utilization, monitor manpower and production, and implement recovery plans when projects are not performing to expectations.

Depending on project structure, the Construction Manager may provide leadership and oversight to:

- Field Labor Teams

Core Responsibilities

- Lead field operations and construction execution across assigned projects.
- Ensure projects are appropriately staffed based on schedule, production targets, project phase, and workload.
- Drive accountability throughout Field Operations Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership teams.
- Participate in preconstruction planning, constructability reviews, project turnover, and mobilization.
- Develop field execution strategies in partnership with Project Management and Operations.
- Coordinate closely with BIM/VDC, Prefab, Procurement, Project Controls, and project leadership.
- Drive prefab planning and utilization to reduce field labor requirements and improve productivity.
- Review manpower forecasts and proactively identify upcoming labor requirements.
- Monitor labor productivity, installed quantities, earned value, and overall production performance.
- Coordinate with Project Controls and P6 scheduling teams to ensure field activities align with project milestones.
- Identify schedule and production risks early and implement corrective or recovery plans.
- Identify and remove constraints impacting field production.
- Ensure field teams maintain company safety and quality standards.
- Ensure proper utilization of Kojo, ProjectSight, OpenSpace, P6 , and other required project management and field technology platforms.
- Support material planning and ensure materials are available when required by the field.
- Maintain consistent communication between field leadership and project management.
- Mentor and develop Field Operations Managers, Superintendents, General Foremen, and other field leaders.
- Promote consistent field processes, standards, and best practices across assigned projects.
- Support commissioning, turnover, punch-list completion, and project closeout activities.

Daily Deliverables

- Review field manpower, productivity, and production status.
- Identify immediate project constraints and operational risks.
- Coordinate active field issues and escalation items.
- Monitor critical schedule activities and recovery actions.
- Review material, equipment, and prefab requirements affecting field production.
- Communicate priorities with project and field leadership.

Weekly Deliverables

- Participate in operations, manpower, and project planning meetings.
- Review manpower forecasts and upcoming staffing requirements.
- Review production tracking and earned-value performance.
- Review project schedules, milestones, and recovery plans.
- Review prefab utilization and upcoming prefab requirements.
- Review labor productivity by project and scope.
- Review safety observations, quality issues, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate upcoming project needs with BIM/VDC, Procurement, Prefab, and Project Controls.

Monthly Deliverables

- Conduct operational reviews of assigned projects.
- Review manpower forecasts with Field Operations Managers and project leadership.
- Evaluate labor productivity and earned-value trends.
- Review prefab adoption and opportunities for increased utilization.
- Evaluate schedule performance and milestone completion.
- Conduct leadership development reviews with field teams.
- Identify operational trends and implement process improvements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance will be measured against key operational metrics, including:

- Labor productivity versus estimated production rates.
- Earned-value performance.
- Milestone completion.
- Schedule adherence.
- Manpower forecasting accuracy.
- Safety performance and reduction of preventable incidents.
- Prefab utilization.
- Reduction in unnecessary field-built assemblies.
- Field reporting compliance.
- Material coordination and availability.
- QA/QC performance and punch-list reduction.
- Successful commissioning and project turnover.

Required Experience

- 10+ years of electrical construction experience , with progressive field leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or complex electrical construction projects.
- Experience leading Superintendents, Foremen, and large field teams.
- Strong understanding of electrical construction means, methods, systems, and installation sequencing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manpower planning, labor productivity, and production tracking.
- Experience developing and executing short-term and long-term field plans.
- Strong understanding of constructability planning and project scheduling.
- Experience implementing prefab strategies.
- Experience coordinating with Project Management, Project Controls, BIM/VDC, Procurement, Safety, and other operational teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Experience

- Mission-critical/data center construction experience.
- Large-scale commercial or industrial electrical construction experience.
- Experience overseeing multiple projects or large, multi-phase projects.
- Experience managing large electrical field organizations.
- Experience with commissioning, energization, and project turnover.
- Familiarity with Kojo, ProjectSight, OpenSpace, and Primavera P6 .
- Experience utilizing BIM/VDC and prefab as part of an integrated field execution strategy.
