Principal Product Manager

<b>Overview</b><br><p>Microsoft's transition to quantum-safe cryptography is a company-wide, multi-year change spanning encryption in transit, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and encryption at rest. Success requires more than publishing standards or building foundational components. Microsoft needs a reliable way to measure adoption, expose gaps, assign accountability, and drive decisions across organizations that own their own roadmaps. Key Management is a critical product area in the transition. Quantum-safe outcomes depend on the readiness of key-management services, key hierarchies, Hardware Security Modules (HSM) hardware and firmware, and related compliance dependencies.</p><p> </p><p>As a <strong>Principal Product Manager</strong> for <span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: Aptos, sans-serif;">Post-Quantum Cryptography (</span>PQC) Adoption &amp; Key Management, you will define what readiness means, what Microsoft measures, and how leaders act on the evidence. You will work closely with the Key Management team on its PQC product strategy and roadmap, while using that product work as a proving ground for the broader adoption model. Own outcome targets, KPIs, scorecards, telemetry requirements, and adoption bars across encryption in transit, PKI, and encryption at rest.</li><li>Drive accountable cross-team results. Use existing governance and reviews to turn gaps or missed targets into named blockers, owners, decisions, and checkpoints.</li><li>Lead customer, field, compliance, and CELA engagement. Present Microsoft's PQC direction and translate customer, audit, regulatory, and government requirements into product priorities and timelines.</li><li>Own the product roadmap and adoption narrative. Publish clear PQC roadmaps and guidance that distinguish committed capabilities from plans, dependencies, exceptions, and open decisions.</li><li>Support Key Management PQC readiness. Partner on strategy, roadmap decisions, and customer discussions across Azure Key Vault, Managed HSM, external key management, key-protection libraries, and HSM platforms.</li></ul><br><br><b>Qualifications</b><br><p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p><div><ul><li>Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development<ul><li>OR equivalent experience.</li></ul></li></ul></div><div> </div><div><strong>Other Requirements:</strong></div><div>Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:</div><div><ul><li><strong>Microsoft Cloud Background Check:</strong> This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.</li></ul></div><p> </p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Significant product-management experience in security, cloud infrastructure, cryptography, key management, identity, or compliance.</li><li>Proven ability to define KPIs and drive measurable results across teams you do not directly manage.</li><li>Customer-facing experience presenting technical roadmaps and translating customer, regulatory, and government requirements into product decisions.</li><li>Strong product judgment translating standards, compliance obligations, and technical dependencies into priorities, sequencing, and tradeoffs.</li><li>Clear executive communication and demonstrated influence across engineering, field, compliance, legal, policy, and governance teams.</li><li>Familiarity with post-quantum cryptography, including ML-KEM, ML-DSA, hybrid transition patterns, or CNSA 2.0; cloud key management and HSMs; large-scale cryptographic migrations; and security governance or compliance programs.</li></ul> <br><br><p>Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year. </p><p></p> <p>Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
