Histology Technician

Histotechnologist / Histology Technician We are seeking an experienced Histotechnologist or Histology Technician to support tissue-based research and project work in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This is a hands-on bench role focused on producing high-quality histological preparations and slides with a strong emphasis on precision, consistency, and throughput. The ideal candidate brings solid independent experience across the full histology workflow — from grossing through final slide quality review — and takes ownership of their work in a regulated, team-oriented setting. Key Responsibilities

- Perform tissue processing, embedding, microtomy/sectioning, and staining across a variety of tissue types and project workflows
- Prepare high-quality sections from FFPE tissue blocks with consistent orientation, thickness, and section integrity
- Independently perform tissue grossing and specimen preparation
- Perform manual H&E staining and evaluate slides for staining consistency, tissue morphology, and overall quality
- Inspect tissue sections and finished slides for quality, orientation, section integrity, and artifact identification
- Operate and maintain microtomes, tissue processors, staining equipment, and other standard histology instrumentation
- Troubleshoot routine and non-routine issues related to embedding, sectioning, staining, tissue handling, and slide quality
- Maintain accurate sample identification, chain of custody, traceability, and laboratory documentation in accordance with SOPs
- Follow established quality procedures, good laboratory practices, and all applicable safety requirements
- Coordinate daily priorities, sample status, and workflow updates with the Histology Lead and broader laboratory team
- Support routine equipment maintenance, reagent preparation, reagent lot tracking, and general laboratory operations
- Perform special stains, immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), and cryosectioning based on experience and project needs

Required Qualifications

- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pathology, or a related scientific discipline — or equivalent hands-on industry experience
- 3+ years of hands-on histology or histopathology laboratory experience, or demonstrated advanced proficiency across core histology techniques
- Strong independent experience with FFPE tissue embedding and microtomy/sectioning
- Ability to independently perform tissue grossing and specimen preparation
- Hands-on experience with manual H&E staining and slide quality evaluation
- Solid understanding of tissue handling best practices, histology QC standards, and routine troubleshooting
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-throughput environment while consistently maintaining quality and accuracy
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

- HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification, or eligibility to sit for certification
- Experience with automated staining platforms (e.g., Leica Bond, Ventana, Dako)
- Familiarity with digital pathology workflows or whole slide imaging systems
- Experience in a CRO, academic medical center, or regulated research environment
- Exposure to study documentation, sample chain of custody, and GLP/GCP compliance

Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Union City, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $97760.00 - $125000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. 401(k), Medical, Dental Vision
