Talen Energy is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Systems Analyst to join our Information Technology team supporting Commercial Risk applications, including Openlink, PowerOptix, cQuant, and custom applications.

The Senior Systems Analyst will play a key role in the implementation, support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of applications and integrations supporting Commercial Risk and related business processes. This position serves as an important liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams, combining strong technical and analytical capabilities with a thorough understanding of business processes.

- Support the implementation, configuration, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of Openlink, PowerOptix, cQuant, custom applications, and related system integrations.
- Provide day-to-day production support for Commercial Risk applications, proactively managing incidents and ensuring timely issue resolution, effective escalation, and clear communication with business users.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Commercial Risk business processes, workflows, data, applications, and integrations to provide effective technology solutions and support.
- Analyze business processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies, operational risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for automation, application enhancements, and process improvements.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand needs, gather and document requirements, evaluate solution options, and translate business requirements into clear functional and technical specifications.
- Serve as a liaison between business users, application teams, developers, vendors, and other technology teams to coordinate activities, resolve issues, manage expectations, and ensure successful delivery of solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across Commercial and IT organizations through proactive communication, responsiveness, transparency, and a strong customer-service orientation.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex application, integration, data, and business-process issues, performing root-cause analysis and coordinating corrective actions as appropriate.
- Document production issues, system configurations, business requirements, functional designs, enhancements, processes, procedures, and support knowledge to appropriate standards.
- Participate in application releases, upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and production deployments, including planning, testing, implementation, and post-deployment validation.
- Develop, review, and execute test scenarios and test cases for system enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and defect remediation to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
- Partner with business users during user acceptance testing (UAT), assisting with test preparation, defect management, issue resolution, and validation of business outcomes.
- Support the execution, documentation, and evidence requirements associated with SOX controls, application controls, change management, and other applicable governance and audit requirements.
- Monitor application performance and operational processes, identifying opportunities to improve system reliability, data quality, supportability, and overall operational efficiency.
- Participate in project and enhancement initiatives, managing assigned deliverables and coordinating dependencies to support successful implementation.
- Prepare and present system recommendations, project updates, issue assessments, and other deliverables to audiences ranging from end users and subject-matter experts to senior leadership.
- Follow established IT policies, standards, change-management practices, security requirements, and development/support processes.
- Promote continuous improvement by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve application functionality, support processes, documentation, automation, and overall team effectiveness.
- Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to other team members, contributing to the development of a collaborative and highly effective Commercial Applications support organization.

What You Have

Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor/master’s degree in computer science, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Economics, or a related IT field or equivalent experience
- 10+ years’ experience as a Systems Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Application Analyst, or similar role supporting complex enterprise applications.
- Experience supporting Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM/CTRM) systems or applications within energy, commodities, trading, risk management, or financial services environments. (Openlink, PowerOptix, cQuant)
- Strong knowledge of Front to Back business processes including trade exchange integration, trade capture, mark-to-market, confirmations, settlements and accounting, compliance, and risk reporting
- Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases , with the ability to analyze data and perform application and integration troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex issues, identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and recommend practical solutions.

- Proven ability to integrate business process, data, application, and technical components of Commercial Risk and trading solutions
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated expertise supporting and enhancing energy trading and risk management (ETRM) systems and related integrations
- Effective collaborator in fast-paced, cross-functional environments across IT, Commercial, and Risk teams
- Skilled in managing multiple competing priorities under pressure while maintaining service excellence
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation abilities for both technical and business audiences
