Chilled & Deli Shift Manager – Farro Smales Farm

We’re looking for a Chilled & Deli Shift Manager to join our leadership team at Farro Smales Farm .

At Farro, food is at the heart of what we do. From incredible cheeses and artisan deli products to fresh ready-to-eat meals, the freshest Seafood & Butchery offerings and premium chilled products, our Chilled & Deli departments are an important part of the Farro experience.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work alongside your team, sharing your passion for food while coaching and developing them to deliver exceptional standards and genuine customer service.

What you’ll be doing:

- Leading, coaching and developing our Chilled & Deli team

- Delivering an outstanding customer experience and leading by example

- Taking ownership of the day-to-day running and performance of your departments

- Managing stock, including ordering, merchandising, date checking, markdowns and wastage

- Maintaining excellent product presentation, availability and stock accuracy

- Driving department sales and profitability

- Ensuring food safety, health & safety and compliance standards are consistently met

- Managing administrative and audit requirements

- Working closely with the wider store leadership team to keep the store running smoothly

- Creating a positive, engaging and high-performing team environment

What we’re looking for:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food and people and knows how to successfully lead in a busy retail environment.

You will ideally bring:

- Previous retail leadership or management experience

- Experience within food retail, FMCG, Deli, Chilled or a similar environment

- Strong knowledge of stock control, merchandising and waste management

- The ability to coach, motivate and develop a successful team

- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of what drives department performance

- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

- Strong organisation and the ability to juggle multiple priorities

- Knowledge of NZ food retail and food safety requirements

- A calm, resilient and adaptable approach in a fast-paced environment

- Most importantly, a genuine passion for great food and exceptional customer service

This is a full-time role working 45 hours per week across Tuesday to Saturday .
