Bilingual Front Office Clerk - Float (East Region) - Job Overview

Schedule: Monday-Friday (8AM-5PM)

As a Bilingual Front Office Clerk Float, you will be one of the first welcoming faces—or voices—a patient encounters. Your professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail help create a positive first impression and establish the foundation for a lasting patient-provider relationship.

This meaningful role supports the smooth operation of the clinic and helps patients access timely, respectful, and coordinated care. You may float to all clinic locations, giving you the opportunity to connect with patients and colleagues across the care environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Answer incoming calls and route them appropriately.
- Perform client intake and notify appropriate staff of the client’s arrival.
- Enter patient information into the appropriate databases.
- Assist the volunteer coordinator with the management of volunteers.
- Follow appointment procedures as set by management.
- Follow cash handling procedures when receiving client payments.
- Complete opening and closing procedures.
- Keep the clinic lobby straight and orderly.
- Process lab results as assigned by the Practice Manager.
- Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.
- Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- Promote effective working relationships and work effectively as part of a team to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- Work within the context of a primary care medical home, applying a team-based approach to care while partnering with patients and families to promote timely access to care, culturally sensitive and language-appropriate understanding of patient care, continuity of care, and whole-person improvement through appropriate self-management education.
- Attend all required safety training programs and describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
- Attend all required safety education programs.
- Operate assigned equipment and perform all procedures in a safe manner as instructed.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in the condition required by Legacy standards.
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics in all functions.
- Check the patient environment and equipment to ensure safety.
- Report safety concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
- Follow Legacy’s exposure control plans for blood-borne and airborne pathogens.
- Demonstrate knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment, including Universal Precautions.
- Assure a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
- Attend annual education programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

- High school graduate or equivalent required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

- Bilingual in English/Spanish required
- Pleasant, professional, and articulate phone voice
- Ability to multi-task and handle many incoming calls or patients at once
- Efficient and accurate data-entry skills
- Computer literacy and multi-line phone or switchboard experience. If no experience, the prospective receptionist must be able to learn it quickly.
- Basic knowledge such as basic math, alphabetical or numerical filing may also be required.
