Quality Engineer

Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer supports the Quality Department in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment by investigating supplier and internal non-conformances, performing root cause analysis, managing corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards. This role collaborates closely with receiving inspection, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues, maintain AS9100 and AS9102 compliance, and drive continuous improvement across the organization. Responsibilities

- Investigate supplier and internal non-conformances, determine root causes, and drive effective corrective and preventive actions to closure.
- Troubleshoot complex quality issues by identifying the source of problems, engaging the appropriate stakeholders, and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Review, manage, and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), ensuring timely and accurate documentation of findings and dispositions.
- Support and participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including dispositioning non-conforming materials and coordinating rework, repair, or scrap decisions.
- Manage corrective action processes for internal and supplier-related issues, ensuring containment, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and verification of effectiveness.
- Issue and support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) when quality issues require design or documentation updates.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Review and approve First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements, ensuring conformance to drawings and specifications.
- Generate, analyze, and maintain quality metrics and reports to monitor performance, identify trends, and recommend improvement actions.
- Monitor supplier performance, including quality trends and non-conformance rates, and collaborate with suppliers to improve quality and reduce defects.
- Evaluate manufacturing and testing processes to ensure they meet quality and regulatory requirements and recommend improvements where needed.
- Support AS9100 quality management system compliance efforts, including documentation, process adherence, and internal or external audits.
- Participate in and support audits and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
- Collaborate closely with receiving inspection, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and suppliers to ensure timely resolution of quality issues.
- Use the ERP system to document quality activities, track non-conformances, manage corrective actions, and maintain accurate records.
- Support the quality function for RF and antenna-related products as applicable, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to a collaborative, cross-functional environment by sharing knowledge, supporting cross-training efforts, and mentoring peers where appropriate.

Essential Skills

- Minimum 2 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with 5+ years preferred.
- Experience working within AS9100 quality management systems.
- Experience completing or reviewing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to AS9102 standards.
- Strong troubleshooting and investigative skills, including the ability to perform effective root cause analysis.
- Hands-on experience managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Material Review Board (MRB) activities, corrective actions, and supplier quality issues.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications; GD&T experience preferred.
- Experience with Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes preferred.
- Experience using ERP systems to support quality and manufacturing processes; Epicor experience is a plus.
- Experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred; medical device experience may also be considered.
- Degree preferred but not required when compensated by relevant experience.

- Experience working in an aerospace manufacturing environment, including exposure to RF and antenna products, is highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to manage supplier quality issues and collaborate effectively with external partners.
- Familiarity with generating and interpreting quality metrics and reports to support data-driven decisions.
- Comfort working with engineering documentation, including specifications, drawings, and change control records.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with inspectors, engineers, supply chain, manufacturing personnel, and suppliers.
- Proven ability to support audits and continuous improvement initiatives within a regulated manufacturing environment.

Work Environment This role is based onsite at an aerospace manufacturing facility in Chatsworth, CA. The Quality Engineer works in a fast-paced quality department that supports receiving inspection, manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers. The environment is highly collaborative, with extensive cross-training and frequent interaction with inspectors, engineering teams, supply chain, and external suppliers. The position follows a four-day work week schedule, Monday through Thursday, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, offering a balanced structure while supporting production and quality needs in a hands-on manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $48.08/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
