Quality Engineer

Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description
The Quality Engineer will review and interpret Government contracts, customer purchase orders, and flow-down requirements to ensure full compliance with quality, inspection, and documentation standards. As a primary quality interface with DCMA, Government Source Inspectors, and customer quality representatives, you will support and participate in Government source selection activities, including supplier evaluations, quality reviews, and compliance assessments. You will interpret Technical Data Packages (TDPs), engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to define quality requirements, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria. In collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams, you will ensure work instructions, routings, and inspection steps accurately reflect contractual, engineering, and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret Government contracts and customer purchase orders for compliance.
- Serve as a quality interface with DCMA and customer quality representatives.
- Support Government source selection activities and supplier evaluations.
- Interpret Technical Data Packages and engineering drawings.
- Develop, review, and approve quality plans and documentation.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure instructions align with requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action for non-conformances.
- Support audits and ensure readiness and documentation accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 and customer-specific requirements.
- Support supplier quality activities and maintain accurate records.
Essential Skills
- Experience with Government contracts and associated quality requirements.
- Interfacing with DCMA and Government Source Inspection representatives.
- Supporting Government source selection activities.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Translating contractual and engineering requirements into processes.
- Resolving non-conformances in aerospace manufacturing.
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
- Prior Quality Engineer experience supporting DoD or Government programs.
- Experience with customer quality portals like Net-Inspect.
- Knowledge of GD&T and inspection methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
Work Environment
The Quality Engineer will work within a Quality department consisting of a Quality Manager, Quality Supervisor, and one inspector. The role involves working on the manufacturing floor as well as spending time in an office setting. This position offers a stable workload supporting aerospace and high-precision manufacturing and provides hands-on inspection experience throughout the full inspection lifecycle, from receiving to final stages. There is also potential for conversion to a full-time position through a contract-to-hire model.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
