MES Engineer

Job Title: Software Engineer Job Description This Software Engineer role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting Manufacturing Execution System (MES) applications. You will work closely with stakeholders and a collaborative development team to translate business needs into tangible technical solutions, manage items in the feature backlog, and ensure that MES implementations and enhancements align with evolving business requirements and modern software development practices. Responsibilities

- Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to understand, create, coordinate, and execute items in the feature backlog for MES solutions.
- Translate business requirements at various levels into robust, scalable, and maintainable MES application solutions.
- Design and develop application deliverables for new MES implementations and enhancements to existing MES applications using modern software implementation methodologies.
- Provide technical support to factories and internal business partners for assigned MES applications, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and remediate issues related to MES applications, including legacy systems, to minimize operational disruptions.
- Maintain and improve user reference materials by writing, revising, or managing the creation of documentation for MES applications.
- Contribute to the strategic roadmap for MES applications by evaluating and incorporating new technologies and approaches.
- Promote continuous process improvement within the MES environment and broader development practices.
- Support team efforts by delivering projects and enhancements on time, and by resolving issues arising from support calls from factories and other business partners.
- Collaborate closely with factory personnel and cross-functional internal partners to understand operational needs and implement effective MES solutions.
- Work as an active member of an agile/scrum team, preferably within a SAFe framework, participating in ceremonies and adhering to agile practices.
- Engage in related technical solution development activities such as testing, database work, deployment, documentation, and elements of project coordination as needed.

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in a related field preferred.
- Approximately 7 years of experience in a similar software engineering role required.
- Proven experience working on highly collaborative, large cross-functional projects.
- Demonstrated experience gathering, understanding, and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong experience troubleshooting and solving problems in legacy applications.
- Comprehensive understanding of modern software development principles and methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Practical understanding of factory floor operations and processes.
- Experience working within an agile/scrum team environment, preferably with SAFe.
- Hands-on experience with Java.
- Hands-on experience with C and C#.
- Experience with the .NET Framework.
- Proficiency with HTML and JSP/CSS.
- Experience with web servers and application servers such as Tomcat and IIS.
- Proficiency in JavaScript and Swing.
- Experience with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate and Entity Framework.
- Experience with relational databases including DB2 and SQL Server.
- Experience with Angular (version 5).
- Experience with Power Apps.
- Experience with Azure DevOps.
- Experience with MES implementations and MES applications.
- Experience developing and supporting MES solutions using C# and .NET.

- Willingness to learn and contribute in other areas of technical solution development, including testing, database development, deployment, documentation, and project support.
- Experience working closely with factory and operations personnel to deliver technology solutions.
- Background in environments that require high levels of collaboration and coordination across multiple teams and functions.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of St. Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $67.50 - $67.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
