The Legal Group protects us against risks and provides the framework for our ethical and compliant global business practices, enabling Lam to effectively navigate the landscape of the semiconductor industry. Their global government affairs team is responsible for advocating on behalf of Lam with public policymakers.

The impact you’ll make

As Regulatory Counsel, you will support legal guidance on product and materials regulations, supply chain sustainability and due diligence, government funding and contracting requirements, and other global regulatory and compliance matters affecting Lam's business.

In this dynamic role, you will help Lam monitor and navigate evolving regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions, translating complex legal obligations into practical, business-focused guidance. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will support the identification and management of regulatory risks and contribute to strategic business initiatives.

You will help strengthen compliance readiness across the organization by supporting the development and implementation of scalable and sustainable compliance processes. This role offers the opportunity to develop expertise across a broad range of regulatory topics while contributing to innovation, operational excellence, and business growth.

Working under the guidance of the Director, Ethics & Compliance and Regulatory Counsel, you will provide practical legal support on regulatory issues and help the business respond effectively to an increasingly complex global regulatory environment.

What you’ll do

Support the Global Product Group by providing practical, business-oriented legal guidance on product regulatory compliance and related matters, including environmental sustainability, health and safety (EHS), disclosure and reporting obligations, third-party due diligence, risk management, and emerging regulatory requirements.

Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of compliance programs and processes addressing product compliance, sustainability, supply chain due diligence, disclosure and reporting obligations, and other global regulatory requirements affecting Lam's products, operations, and customers.

Assist in advising on government funding, incentive, and contracting opportunities, including legal support relating to grant funding, compliance obligations, and applicable government procurement requirements.

Support the Global Trade Compliance Team by monitoring regulatory developments, legislative initiatives, and policy trends; coordinate with external counsel as appropriate; and collaborate with product, sales, operations, sustainability, and government affairs teams on compliance-related initiatives.

Contribute to the broader Ethics & Compliance program by supporting compliance policies, procedures, third-party due diligence processes, training, communications, internal investigations, and other compliance initiatives.

Assist in identifying, assessing, and managing regulatory and compliance risks across global operations; support M&A due diligence and integration activities; and help respond to regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations, and enforcement matters.

Monitor legal trends, regulatory developments, and industry practices, and help translate regulatory requirements into clear and actionable guidance for business stakeholders.

Build effective working relationships with business and functional teams, including product safety, trade compliance, information security, operations, sales, supply chain, logistics, sustainability, and government affairs, to support compliance objectives and business goals.

Contribute as a member of a collaborative legal team by supporting Legal department initiatives, sharing knowledge, and helping drive practical solutions to regulatory and compliance challenges.

This position reports to the Director, Ethics & Compliance and Regulatory Counsel, is part of a global ethics, compliance, and regulatory team, and must be based in Lam's offices in Fremont, California or Tualatin, Oregon.

Who we’re looking for

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state and, depending on hiring location, eligible to join the Oregon Bar or register as in-house counsel in California.

3-8 years of legal experience, including experience advising on regulatory, compliance, environmental, product, supply chain, government contracting, or related legal matters.

Experience supporting compliance programs and advising on regulations affecting industrial equipment, product compliance, environmental requirements, material sourcing, supply chains, sustainability, or related areas.

Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal requirements and provide clear, practical, and risk-based guidance to business stakeholders.

Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across functions, regions, and time zones.

Sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to addressing regulatory and compliance issues.

Curiosity and a willingness to learn, with an interest in developing expertise across a broad range of emerging regulatory topics.

Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships across the organization.

Ability to work independently while exercising appropriate judgment on when to seek guidance and escalate issues.

Law firm or in-house experience supporting multinational companies, global business operations, or cross-border regulatory matters is preferred.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
