Lawyer - Customer, Data and Technology

In this role you will work closely with the business and provide commercially focused, fast paced legal advice in the key functional areas of: marketing/consumer law, privacy/spam, digital, technology and commercial contracting.

This is a 12 month max term opportunity based in Gadigal Country (Sydney) or Naarm (Melbourne)

What You'll Do

- Provide legal support for a broad range of exciting marketing, digital and growth-related initiatives in support of IAG’s customer growth strategy, with mentoring and support from senior lawyers.
- Establish deep and effective relationships with peers and business partners (including the digital and marketing teams) to understand their business drivers and strategic priorities.
- Advise IAG, including monitoring legislative/regulatory changes and market best practice, in key functional areas

- Provide high quality, strategic, pragmatic and commercially focused legal and governance advice to business partners and peers.

What you’ll bring

- 4+ years PQE, at top tier private practice or large listed companies.
- Well-developed legal skills (e.g. written and oral communication, advisory, drafting and negotiation).
- Well-developed knowledge in the areas of marketing/consumer law, privacy/spam and digital. Experience in intellectual property, technology and commercial drafting highly regarded.
- Ability to triage multiple priorities and work autonomously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Well developed stakeholder and project management skills.
- An understanding of general insurance and/or the broader financial services industry preferred by not essential.
- Passionate about continuous improvement and development, including leveraging technology to provide legal services more efficiently
