Electrical Quantity Surveyor - Defence

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor to join our Defence team . This is a fantastic opportunity to work on some of the UK's most complex and nationally significant infrastructure programmes, supporting the commercial delivery of major electrical and MEP projects within a highly regulated environment.

The successful candidate will combine strong commercial expertise with a sound understanding of electrical infrastructure delivery. You will be confident managing NEC contracts, leading commercial discussions with clients and subcontractors, and providing strategic commercial advice throughout the project lifecycle.

Due to the nature of our Defence programmes, security clearance (SC) is essential, or candidates must be eligible and willing to obtain SC clearance.

You’ll be responsible for:

- Managing the commercial management of electrical works packages from procurement through to final account.
- Preparing, maintaining and managing cost forecasts, CVRs, cash flow forecasts and cost-to-complete reporting.
- Managing change control processes, including compensation events, variations and claims.
- Administering NEC contracts, ensuring contractual obligations are understood and effectively managed.
- Producing, reviewing and managing payment applications, subcontract valuations and final accounts.
- Supporting procurement activities, including tender reviews, commercial evaluations and subcontract negotiations.
- Monitoring project performance against approved budgets and support corrective actions where required.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and supporting documentation.
- Working closely with project managers, engineers, construction managers and design teams to identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with clients, contractors and supply chain partners to support successful project outcomes.
- Providing commercial advice and support across electrical infrastructure work packages.

You’ll need to have:

- Degree qualified in quantity surveying, commercial management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience managing electrical or MEP packages on major construction, engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including HV/LV infrastructure, substations, power distribution and associated installations.
- Demonstrable experience administering NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
- Experience preparing and managing forecasts, valuations, cost reporting and final accounts.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with excellent negotiation skills.
- Experience working within integrated project teams in complex delivery environments.
- Advanced stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
