Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Wholesale DE/VA Underwriter to join their team in a fully remote capacity. This position requires strong recent Wholesale/TPO underwriting experience with an emphasis on complex and manual VA underwriting .

The ideal candidate will have active FHA DE and VA LAPP/SAR designations, recent experience issuing VA Notices of Value (NOVs), and the ability to independently underwrite difficult VA files.

Responsibilities

- Underwrite Wholesale/TPO FHA and VA residential mortgage loans.

- Perform complex and manual VA underwrites.

- Analyze borrower credit, income, assets, liabilities, collateral, and overall loan risk.

- Review AUS findings and manually underwrite loans when required.

- Evaluate layered risk, compensating factors, and complex borrower scenarios.

- Issue underwriting decisions and conditions in accordance with applicable guidelines.

- Review conditions and supporting documentation through final loan approval.

- Review VA appraisals and issue Notices of Value (NOVs).

- Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions clearly with Wholesale/TPO operations and sales teams.

- Ensure loans meet applicable FHA, VA, investor, and company underwriting guidelines.

Qualifications

- Recent Wholesale/TPO mortgage underwriting experience.

- Active FHA DE designation.

- Active VA LAPP/SAR designation.

- Must have issued a VA Notice of Value (NOV) within the past 11 months.

- Strong recent experience with manual VA underwriting .

- Experience underwriting difficult and complex VA loan scenarios.

- Strong knowledge of current FHA and VA underwriting guidelines.

- Ability to independently analyze complex credit, income, assets, collateral, layered risk, and compensating factors.

- Ability to independently manage an underwriting pipeline in a remote environment.
