Temporary Staff - This position provides technical support for the NKU Observatory
Primary Responsibilities :
- Maintaining the NKU 14-inch telescope and observatory laptop
- Commissioning the new Photometric Camera for the NKU 14-inch telescope
- Maintaining the Primary Instruments for the NKU 14-inch telescope (Photometric Camera and Spectroscopic System)
- Developing new procedures and techniques for using the NKU 14-inch telescope and its instruments
- Working on upgrades to the current NKU 14-inch telescope and its instruments
Qualifications :
- Must have completed the NKU class AST 310 Observational Techniques with an A
- Be familiar with computer programming especially in Python
- Be able to work well both independently and with direction
- Be able to work with basic hand tools
- Be able to diagnose technical problems and develop solutions
Work Schedule and Pay :
- Up to 20 hours a week between sunset to sunrise
- $11/hour
