Job Title: Civil 3D Designer / Civil Drafter Job Description We are seeking an experienced Civil 3D Designer / Civil Drafter to support civil site development and stormwater management projects. In this role, you will help produce complete construction document sets, with a focus on grading and drainage design for a variety of fueling and petroleum-related facilities. Depending on your experience, you may also contribute to stormwater modeling using industry-standard software such as ICPR, POND, HydroCAD, and similar tools. This position offers the opportunity to work on full design and permitting projects for civil and building elements associated with retail petroleum sites, gas stations, marina fueling operations, and above-ground and below-ground petroleum storage tanks. Responsibilities

- Develop detailed civil site development drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including plans, profiles, and construction documents.
- Prepare grading and drainage plans that support site functionality, constructability, and regulatory compliance.
- Support stormwater management design and modeling using software such as ICPR, POND, HydroCAD, or similar tools, depending on experience.
- Interpret survey data, topographic information, and engineering calculations to produce accurate and coordinated civil drawings.
- Assist with the civil components of full design and permitting packages for retail petroleum facilities, gas stations, marina fueling sites, and petroleum storage tank projects.
- Coordinate civil site design with structural, architectural, environmental, and traffic engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Incorporate land development and civil engineering design standards into site layouts, grading, drainage, and utility plans.
- Review drawings and designs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and permitting requirements.
- Update and revise drawings based on engineering markups, permitting comments, and client feedback while maintaining version control.
- Manage drafting tasks to meet project deadlines, demonstrating strong attention to detail and consistent quality in deliverables.
- Collaborate with engineers and drafters in a small-office environment to solve design challenges and optimize site layouts.
- Support documentation required for stormwater and land development permitting, particularly for Florida projects when applicable.

Essential Skills

- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in civil/site drafting or civil site development.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil drafting and design.
- Strong experience in grading and drainage design for civil site projects.
- Working knowledge of stormwater modeling software such as ICPR, POND, HydroCAD, or similar tools.
- Ability to interpret survey data and engineering calculations and translate them into accurate civil drawings.
- Solid understanding of grading and drainage plans and their role in overall site design.
- Experience with civil engineering design, land development, and civil site design.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to produce precise, well-organized drawings.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage drafting tasks within project schedules.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with retail petroleum and fueling facilities such as gas stations, airports, fleet fueling locations, truck stops, or similar sites.
- Familiarity with underground fuel storage systems and associated site constraints.
- Florida land development or stormwater permitting experience.
- Experience in civil engineering, civil design, or related technical drafting disciplines.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including structural, architectural, environmental, and traffic engineering professionals.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a small, closely coordinated office setting.

Work Environment This role is based in a small, established office in South Florida that has operated since 1995. The main office is located in Lakeland and includes engineering, construction, and environmental departments, with a total staff of approximately 1520 people. The local office you will join has about eight team members, including civil and structural design, architectural drafting, permitting, traffic engineering, civil engineering, and administrative support. You will work full time on site, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility when needed. The environment is collaborative and close-knit, with limited bureaucracy compared to larger firms, allowing for direct involvement in projects and faster decision-making. The company offers profit-sharing on the higher end of industry norms, including contributions to a 401(k) plan regardless of employee contributions, as well as bonuses and profit-sharing typically in the range of 510% of salary. Dress code is typical professional office attire suitable for an engineering and design environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
