Company Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of an established global logistics, customs house brokerage, and freight forwarding firm near JFK/Inwood, NY. They are seeking an experienced, active Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) with specialized expertise in high-volume eCommerce entry procedures to join their trade compliance and operational leadership team.

Position Summary

The Licensed Customs Broker will oversee customs clearance operations, entry filings, regulatory compliance, and CBP communications. This role requires hands-on experience navigating eCommerce cross-border customs entries —specifically transitioning from former Type 86 clearance protocols into consolidated Type 11 entry procedures —ensuring strict adherence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agency (PGA) regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Customs Compliance & Entry Processing: Oversee and manage the clearance of high-volume international ocean and air import shipments, ensuring accurate classification (HTS) and duty valuation.

eCommerce Entry Management: Direct and execute high-volume Type 11 consolidated eCommerce entries (formerly Type 86) in full compliance with current CBP regulations.

Regulatory & Agency Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), FDA, USDA, DOT, and other PGAs. Resolve customs holds, exam notifications, and entry rejections promptly.

Tariff & Trade Advice: Assist clients and internal account teams with Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification guidance, Section 301 tariffs, anti-dumping/countervailing duties (ADD/CVD), and trade agreement compliance.

Process Improvement & Auditing: Perform regular internal entry audits, monitor entry logs, and implement updated SOPs to keep operations fully aligned with evolving trade policies and eCommerce clearance mandates.

Qualifications & Requirements

Active LCB License: Must possess an active Individual Customs Broker License (LCB) issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

eCommerce Expertise (Required): Proven, direct experience processing high-volume eCommerce customs clearances. Must have working familiarity with Type 11 entry filings and de minimis/eCommerce clearance workflows.

Freight Forwarding / Brokerage Background: 4–7+ years of hands-on experience working inside a Customs House Brokerage (CHB), freight forwarder, or logistics provider.

Technical Proficiency: Experience using major brokerage TMS platforms (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, SmartBorder) and ABI software.

Leadership & Communication: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and client-facing communication skills with a focus on operational accuracy and trade compliance.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $80,000.00 - $120,000.00
