Shop Foreman

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

- Supervise the daily activities of Service Technicians, Wash Bay Laborers, and other assigned shop personnel.

- Assign and prioritize work to maximize productivity and customer service.

- Provide coaching, mentoring, and on-the-job training to develop employee skills.

- Monitor employee performance and provide timely feedback to support continuous improvement.

- Partner with branch leadership and Human Resources regarding employee performance, attendance, training, and corrective action.

- Promote a positive, professional, and accountable work environment.

Shop Operations

- Coordinate shop workflow with the Service Writer and Branch Manager to meet customer commitments and operational goals.

- Monitor repair status and communicate updates to management and customers as appropriate.

- Ensure labor entries, work orders, inspections, and repair documentation are completed accurately and timely.

- Monitor shop productivity, efficiency, and quality standards.

- Support inventory control and proper use of shop equipment and tools.

Technical Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair Class 7 and Class 8 trucks and vacuum equipment.

- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

- Perform preventive maintenance, annual inspections, and complex repairs.

- Operate diagnostic equipment and manufacturer software.

- Assist technicians with difficult repairs and technical problem-solving.

- Perform welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications as required.

Safety & Compliance

- Promote and enforce Company safety policies and OSHA requirements.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

- Ensure equipment is maintained in compliance with Company standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

- High school diploma or GED required.

- Minimum 5 years of heavy truck or vacuum equipment repair experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and vacuum systems.

- Proficiency with diagnostic software and computer systems.

- CDL preferred but not required.
