Job Title: Electrical Engineer (Building Systems) Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to perform a full range of electrical engineering and design services for multi-discipline building projects of varying size and complexity across commercial and government facilities. You will contribute to all project phasesfrom conceptual studies through construction documents and construction administrationunder the direct supervision of a senior electrical engineer or principal. The position is ideal for a degreed engineer with 510 years of experience who enjoys diverse, challenging work and a collaborative in-office environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform multiple aspects of electrical engineering on multi-discipline building design projects ranging from small to large scope for commercial and government facilities.
- Apply a solid working knowledge of building systems and building codes to develop safe, efficient, and compliant electrical designs.
- Execute all aspects of electrical design services, including conceptual studies, programming, schematic design documents, design development documents, and construction documents under the supervision of a senior electrical engineer or principal.
- Select and lay out electrical systems for building projects, ensuring appropriate equipment, distribution, and coordination with other disciplines.
- Prepare accurate, complete, and code-compliant drawings and specifications for schematic, design development, and construction document submittals.
- Use AutoCAD (and preferably Revit) to produce detailed electrical plans, sections, schedules, and other design documentation.
- Participate in construction phase services, including conducting field visits to review installation progress and verify conformance with design intent.
- Respond to requests for information (RFIs) from contractors and project stakeholders in a timely and thorough manner.
- Review shop drawings and submittals for electrical systems and equipment to confirm compliance with project specifications and design requirements.
- Prepare record drawings at the conclusion of projects to accurately document as-built electrical conditions.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews on assigned projects to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and adherence to applicable codes and standards.
- Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines and project team members to deliver coordinated, integrated building designs.
- Support efforts related to security clearance requirements by maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity throughout project work.
Essential Skills
- 510 years of professional electrical engineering experience, preferably focused on building systems and multi-discipline building design projects.
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or eligibility to obtain an EIT certificate.
- Working knowledge of building systems and building codes relevant to commercial and government facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to perform all phases of electrical design, including conceptual studies, programming, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; ability to use AutoCAD for electrical design and drafting is required.
- Experience with construction phase activities such as field visits, responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings.
- Ability to select and lay out electrical systems and produce accurate, complete, and code-compliant drawings and specifications.
- Experience performing QA/QC reviews on engineering and design documents.
- Eligibility and willingness to obtain a security clearance, including meeting all associated requirements.
- US citizenship.
- Strong design, engineering, and drafting skills with attention to detail and quality.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Revit experience is preferred and considered a plus.
- Experience working on diverse and challenging projects, including high-profile government facilities, is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively under the direct supervision of senior engineers while progressively taking ownership of project tasks.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and responding to contractor inquiries.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, in-office position based in a collaborative engineering environment. Team members work on site five days per week, with 8-hour workdays starting between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., depending on what works best for each person. The workplace offers exposure to a wide range of projects, including complex commercial and government facilities and occasionally high-profile assignments. You will regularly use tools such as AutoCAD and, where applicable, Revit, along with standard office and engineering software. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baltimore, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.63 - $43.53/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
