Job Title: Operations Consultant Job Description
The Operations Consultant (Operations Processing Associate) supports insurance operations by making outbound calls to external transfer companies to obtain the status of funds for new business cases. This role focuses on accurate documentation, clear communication, and consistent follow-through while working independently to meet daily productivity and quality expectations in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Make outbound status calls to carriers and transfer companies to obtain updates on funds for new business cases.
- Clearly communicate next steps to external transfer companies and internal stakeholders based on call outcomes.
- Document all call outcomes accurately and efficiently in required documentation systems.
- Navigate multiple systems and tools while following established procedures, job aids, and process guidelines.
- Follow up on outstanding information and proactively request missing items needed to move cases forward.
- Identify and communicate issues, trends, and potential improvement opportunities to leadership.
- Participate in team-based problem-solving and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Engage in cross-training activities to build broader knowledge of insurance operations and agency services.
- Adapt to workflow changes and shifting priorities while maintaining steady productivity.
- Manage time effectively to meet daily metrics and quality standards in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Work experience in processing, operations, or a similar environment preferred.
- Ability to work independently, stay focused, and consistently meet daily productivity and quality metrics.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in documentation and data entry.
- Comfort working across multiple systems and documentation platforms simultaneously.
- Effective verbal communication skills for making outbound calls and explaining next steps clearly.
- Ability to follow established procedures, job aids, and process guidelines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt to workflow changes and new processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with process improvement activities, including identifying inefficiencies and suggesting solutions.
- Background in processing work, document review, or documentation research.
- Familiarity with documentation systems and tools used in insurance or financial services operations.
- Experience working within an agency services or insurance operations environment is a plus.
- Comfort participating in cross-training and collaborating with team members on problem-solving efforts.
Work Environment
This role is 100% onsite at a professional office location in West Des Moines. The position operates within the Agency Services Division in an insurance operations environment, using multiple documentation and processing systems throughout the workday. The work is fast-paced and metrics-driven, requiring consistent focus and productivity. Hours are part-time and may vary, with availability needed as required, typically ranging from approximately 1 to 5 hours per week. The team culture emphasizes collaboration, process improvement, and cross-training, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement in operational processes.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
