About this role

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Program/Project Manager III, Operations Initiatives reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer and Executive Vice President and is responsible for the management of complex projects, programs, and initiatives in support of CapMetro’s Operations capital improvement plan, operational expenditure plan, and strategic objectives. This role requires an experienced and proactive individual with a proven record of successfully leading cross-functional project teams and the ability to drive strategic organizational outcomes through effective project management.

WHAT YOU BRING

- Bachelor’s degree in project management, information technology, public administration, or related subject area. Additional related experience may substitute for a degree on a year-for-year basis up to four years.
- Master’s degree may substitute for two years of work experience preferred.
- Six (6) years of experience leading cross-functional projects and/or programs from initiation through completion, including responsibility for planning, budgeting, procurement, resource management, and reporting, demonstrated success leading the implementation of complex projects, programs, and portfolios.
- Proficient experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, and SharePoint.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Institute (PMI) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Experience using Planview to develop a project schedule, assign resources to tasks, track progress, and analyze workloads is preferred.
- Familiarity with transit industry, public sector, or technology and construction projects preferred.
- Knowledge of project management practices for managing cost, schedule, and performance.
- Ability to demonstrate a proactive, collaborative approach with team members, consultants, vendors, and contractors.
- Ability to understand, develop, and manage project technical details and find solutions.
- Effective communication and ability to identify and communicate risks.
- Self-motivated and focused on opportunities to continuously improve skills and processes. Ability to work in a team environment in a matrix organization, partnering well with other employees, management, stakeholders, users, business personnel, vendors, service providers, and contractors.
- Motivated to undertake project management duties and tasks as assigned.
- Ability to be a positive and constructive contributor in a team-based environment.
Excellent attention to detail.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in an office and outdoor environments, with exposure to inclement and adverse weather conditions. This position works with multiple project timelines and is responsible for directing employees performing work of a complex nature.

Incumbent must have the ability to stand, walk and travel 90% throughout the workday. This position will need to have the ability to work varying shifts, days, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, to meet the department’s needs. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment. Incumbents must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions. This position may require work beyond a normal forty-hour weekly schedule. Regular and predictable attendance at assigned work location is an essential function.

Mobility Status:
As a Hybrid position, onsite presence is guided by team collaboration needs, customer and front-line team member interactions, and role responsibilities. People leaders will set expectations for onsite presence; however, incumbents are generally encouraged to work 8 to 12 days in office per month. Mobility status is subject to change at any time based on business needs or organizational decisions.
