About this role
The Line Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the paint line to ensure that production goals, quality standards, and safety protocols are met. This position plays a key leadership role by coordinating team activities, monitoring workflow, and troubleshooting issues to ensure a smooth and efficient finishing process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Paint Line Operations
Lead and oversee all paint line operations, including pre-treatment, part hanging, coating application, curing, and unloading.
Ensure production schedules are met and work orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
Adjust line speed, oven temperature, and spray gun settings as needed to maintain coating quality and meet specifications.
Perform routine inspections of parts for proper coating coverage, adhesion, finish quality, and compliance with internal or customer standards.
Promptly report equipment malfunctions, material shortages, and production issues to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
Maintain accurate coating logs, process documentation, and ensure correct labeling and traceability of finished parts.
Conduct visual and physical inspections to verify coating consistency, cure integrity, and surface finish.
Enforce the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all safety protocols.
Keep the paint line area clean, organized, and free from safety hazards at all times.
Participate in and/or lead daily safety and quality meetings, audits, and continuous improvement efforts.
Leadership and Team Support
Monitor productivity, update production boards, track data in ERP and ensure quality and safety compliance.
Onboard, train, and mentor employees to optimize performance.
Communicate effectively with other departments to resolve challenges.
Maintain housekeeping and enforce company policies.
Lead and/or participate in process improvement initiatives.
Assist in delegating jobs to department employees
Document and forward employee policy issues to supervisor

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience/training
Experience and/or Training:
Previous experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment is a plus, but not required.
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and remain on your feet for extended periods.
Familiarity with packing tools, shrink-wrap machines, pallet jacks, and basic warehouse equipment.
Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment performing repetitive tasks.
Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools (e.g., drills, wrenches, pliers, grinders).
Willingness to learn new tasks, follow procedures, and adapt to changing priorities.
Basic mechanical aptitude is beneficial for troubleshooting and understanding equipment.
Strong ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively with a team.

Experience and/or Training:
Experience with heavy duty mount clamps, torque, and rubber grommet a plus
Experience in using crane to move large heavy parts a plus
Experience using ergonomic equipment properly such as hoists a plus
Experience using a hydraulic unit a plus
Physical and Mental Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must frequently sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move between work areas.
Regularly required to talk and listen, as well as climb, balance, and reach above shoulder level.
Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
The employee must be able to lift and or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
Travel: Occasional travel to other plant locations.

Working Environment
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment where loud noise exposure is regular and frequent. Additionally, there is a regular exposure on the production floor to dust, metal debris, changes in ambient temperature, and requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
