Electrical Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Engineer Job Description This Electrical Engineer role focuses on supporting the testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modernization of U.S. Navy submarine imaging systems, including periscopes and photonics masts. You will serve as a technical lead, guiding technicians, resolving complex electrical and RF issues, and developing innovative test solutions to keep critical submarine sensor systems operational and mission-ready. Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor teams of technicians through testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities for submarine imaging systems, periscopes, and photonics masts.
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, RF, and electronic hardware issues in lab and production environments.
- Design custom test equipment, fixtures, and electrical schematics to improve repair, verification, and test processes.
- Develop detailed test plans, procedures, technical documentation, and readiness artifacts to support the sustainment of submarine photonics mast and imaging systems.
- Analyze electronic assemblies, cable harnesses, RF systems, fiber optics, and other mission-critical hardware for performance and reliability.
- Prototype, debug, and validate hardware designs and test configurations to support modernization and upgrades.
- Review engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical data packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and performance compliance.
- Evaluate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) versus military-grade components to recommend suitable upgrade and replacement solutions.
- Collaborate closely with Navy personnel, program stakeholders, original equipment manufacturers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Support design reviews, address fleet issues, and participate in occasional field installations, certifications, and system checks.
- Maintain clear, accurate technical documentation and communicate findings and recommendations to engineering and operational stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods, troubleshooting procedures, and sustainment strategies for submarine imaging systems.

Essential Skills

- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or significant equivalent military electronics experience.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex electronic systems in a lab or production environment.
- Proficiency using electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, network analyzers, power supplies, and RF test equipment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Experience with electrical design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, and LTSpice.
- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including hardware design, schematic capture, and test methodology.
- Ability to lead small technical teams and coordinate testing and repair activities.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with technicians, engineers, and operational stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with Navy submarine systems, periscopes, or photonics masts.
- Background as a Navy Electronics Technician (ET), Fire Control Technician (FT), or similar technical military role.
- Experience with PCB design and fabrication.
- Knowledge of FPGA, embedded systems, and microcontrollers.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or other mechanical CAD tools.
- Understanding of SUBSAFE, fleet maintenance, or Navy material control processes.
- Interest in hands-on engineering, technical troubleshooting, and leading small teams.
- Ability to work comfortably in both lab environments and collaborative settings with Navy stakeholders.

This is a Permanent position based out of Middletown, RI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $160000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. medical, vision, detal, 401k, holidays etc
