About this role

Job Title: Mechanical / Dimensional Engineer Job Description This remote Mechanical / Dimensional Engineer role focuses on advancing state-of-the-art mechanical designs, structures, mechanisms, and sensor integration solutions that power transformative Virtual and Augmented Reality experiences. You will work closely with a diverse cross-functional team of mechanical, electrical, optical, materials, firmware, software, and computer vision engineers and scientists to explore new concepts through analytical modeling and rapid iterative prototyping. The position requires working PST hours and participating in a structured interview process that includes an initial 30-minute screening followed by two 45-minute interviews. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, contributes to big-picture ideas, and can drive concepts from early prototype stages toward high-volume consumer products. Responsibilities

- Lead or contribute to geometry control solutions as part of a collaborative engineering team, including 3D dimensional analysis and datum coordination to support functional performance and manufacturing build strategies.
- Lead tolerance analysis efforts and develop robust GD&T schemes in partnership with the design team, while creating and sharing best practices for dimensional control.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to generate innovative concepts and detailed mechanical designs that integrate sensors and other components into complex assemblies.
- Apply rigorous 3D variation simulation modeling to solve challenging design problems and ensure robust performance across manufacturing variability.
- Contribute to the development and execution of robust measurement plans by supporting gage R&R studies with suppliers and internal partners.
- Author and review measurement standard operating procedures (MSOPs) to ensure consistency and accuracy in dimensional inspection processes.
- Collaborate with metrology teams to define appropriate measurement strategies, tools, and methods that support product development and production.
- Support the transition of designs from concept through prototyping to the start of production by providing dimensional engineering guidance and analysis.
- Utilize statistical methods and tools to analyze measurement data, support assembly simulations, and inform decisions related to Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of industry or academic experience in relevant engineering roles.
- Experience developing 3D variation simulation analyses using one or more of the following software packages: Siemens VA (VisVSA), 3DCS, or CETOL.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as machining, 3D printing, and injection molding.
- Strong experience with GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5, including practical application of tolerance analysis and associated metrology.
- Experience working on design teams throughout the product lifecycle, from concept through the start of production.
- Ability to lead and interpret gage R&R studies and contribute to robust measurement planning.
- Proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and communicate complex dimensional engineering concepts clearly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- 5+ years of dimensional engineering experience, specifically focused on the application of GD&T and development of 3D variation simulation analyses (Siemens VA VisVSA preferred). Strong VisVSA proficiency is highly recommended for this role.
- 3+ years of experience working on high-volume products such as consumer technology, automotive, aerospace, consumer appliances, or medical devices.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling, with a preference for NX.
- Experience creating scripts or algorithms to support measurement data analysis and assembly simulation requirements.
- Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and other statistical methods required to support Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Experience using statistical software such as Minitab, Quantum XL, JMP, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and document best practices for dimensional engineering, GD&T, and variation analysis.
- Comfort working in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments that emphasize rapid prototyping and iterative design.

Work Environment This is a remote position that requires working core hours aligned with the Pacific Time Zone (PST). You will collaborate daily with a multidisciplinary team that includes mechanical, electrical, optical, materials, firmware, software, and computer vision specialists, using modern collaboration tools and digital workflows. The role involves extensive use of 3D CAD platforms (such as NX), 3D variation simulation tools (such as Siemens VA VisVSA, 3DCS, or CETOL), and statistical analysis software (such as Minitab, Quantum XL, or JMP). You will engage with manufacturing partners and metrology teams to support high-volume production environments that leverage machining, 3D printing, injection molding, and advanced measurement systems. The culture emphasizes innovation, analytical rigor, teamwork, and rapid iteration from concept through prototype and into production-ready designs.
