About this role
You will be involved in a wide variety of mechanical restoration work, including:
Mechanical restoration of classic trucks and commercial vehicles
Removal, rebuilding and installation of engines, gearboxes and axles
Engine repairs and complete engine rebuilds
Clutch and gearbox repairs
Differential and axle repairs
Steering and suspension repairs
Air brake system diagnosis and repair
Electrical fault finding and repairs
Cooling and fuel system repairs
Servicing and general mechanical maintenance
Diagnosing mechanical faults and finding practical solutions
Disassembly and reassembly of complete vehicles during restoration
Inspecting and refurbishing mechanical components before reassembly
Setting up and testing completed vehicles
Working on complete restoration projects from start to finish
Requirements
Previous experience as a Truck / HGV Mechanic
Strong mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability
Experience working with diesel engines, gearboxes, axles and driveline components
Good understanding of air brake and pneumatic systems
Experience with vehicle electrical systems
Ability to carry out mechanical rebuilds rather than simply replacing components
Good problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Pride in producing work to a high standard
