ABOUT THE ROLE
We are building Multi-Mile - a pan-European delivery network that brings together local first-mile carriers, warehouses, linehaul partners and last-mile providers into one connected service.We want to combine the strengths of local providers into a better delivery experience and make great delivery affordable for everyone. In the future, this network could also become a logistics service for external customers.
We’re looking for a Director of Multi-Mile to build and own this business. You’ll decide which European corridors to develop, how each lane should work, which partners to bring together and what it will take to make the model scalable. You’ll own the results across network economics, delivery performance and growth, working closely with Operations, Product, Finance and commercial teams to turn the strategy into a working network. You’ll work directly with the Head of Shipping & Operations.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
- Own and execute the Multi-Mile strategy, shaping and scaling the network for regular and bulky parcel lanes across Europe.
- Identify and prioritise new corridors based on customer demand, shipment volume, service needs and commercial potential. Decide when to launch, scale, redesign or stop a lane.
- Own the end-to-end business case for each lane, from first mile and warehouse handling to linehaul and last mile, and measure performance against realistic third-party logistics alternatives.
- Select and negotiate with carriers and partners, setting pricing, capacity, service levels and clear expectations for performance.
- Own the end-to-end delivery promise, using data to improve cost and reliability without compromising the customer experience.
- Set business priorities for Product, Data, and Engineering, backed by clear business cases, so the network can scale beyond manually managed lanes.
- Explore how the network can support customer returns and undelivered shipments, and develop the longer-term opportunity to serve external customers.
- Lead the Multi-Mile team and bring together Operations, Warehouse, Data, Product, Finance and market teams around a clear plan and shared results.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Experience building or significantly redesigning a logistics network, cross-border delivery service or multi-provider operating model.
- Strong commercial and financial ownership, with examples of business cases, budgets or unit economics you’ve been accountable for.
- Experience launching new lanes, markets, hubs or carrier models, and making decisions based on both results and operational readiness.
- Ability to negotiate more than rates - you understand how capacity, service levels, responsibilities and partner performance shape the full customer experience.
- Strong judgment in balancing shipment volume, transport cost, delivery reliability and long-term scalability.
- Experience leading teams and working across commercial, operations, data, product and finance functions.
- A builder’s mindset and the confidence to make sound decisions when the path is not fully defined.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, parcel or bulky-parcel delivery, or logistics platforms is a big advantage.
- Experience with returns networks, warehouse-based consolidation or developing logistics services for external customers is a big advantage.
SALARY
The offered salary range for this position is 5500 € (gross) per month. Please keep in mind that we are also open to discuss your salary expectations based on your competencies and experience.
