Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
- As the Deputy Manager - Welfare Officer (Canteen) at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in fostering harmonious industrial relations within the plant. This includes managing interactions with unions, overseeing long-term settlements, and ensuring effective grievance redressal and disciplinary processes that align with company policies and statutory requirements.

- Strong leadership will be required to build and maintain positive relationships with union representatives and empower informal leadership among blue-collar staff, ensuring fair negotiations and sound labor relations. You will continuously assess risks associated with industrial relation decisions, build robust partnerships with government entities, labor federations, and community stakeholders, and proactively respond to evolving labor trends.

General Experience
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience is required, preferably with exposure to managing industrial relations across multiple locations and states. This breadth of experience equips the candidate to navigate diverse regulatory environments and cultural contexts, vital for ensuring compliant and effective labor relations practices in a large manufacturing setup.
Experience in settings with unionised workforces is highly valuable, demonstrating a proven track record of managing complex employee relations issues, negotiations, and workforce planning on a broader scale.
The candidate should have demonstrable experience in strategic planning, stakeholder management, and program execution, contributing to organizational development and a positive work environment.
Critical Experience
Critical to this role is prior experience serving as Head of Industrial Relations or in a senior labor relations leadership capacity in a small to medium-sized unionised manufacturing plant.
You should have successfully led and signed multiple long-term settlements (at least 5-6) in similar settings, showcasing strong negotiation skills and an in-depth understanding of labor dynamics and trust-building with union partners.
Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive employee relations strategies at the plant level is essential. This reflects your capability to align labor relations with organizational objectives and establish effective frameworks for workforce engagement and dispute resolution.
Proficiency in partnership-building with local industry groups, labor authorities, and government bodies is a key requirement, demonstrating your ability to influence and collaborate across multiple external stakeholders, thereby fostering a cooperative industrial environment.
A deep understanding of local labor laws, regulatory compliance, and best practices in employee welfare management is expected to guide decision-making and strategy execution effectively.
