About this role

OVERVIEW:

The Reservoir Engineering Technology team conducts applied research and develops innovative approaches to improve the understanding of multiphase flow in porous media and formation evaluation for conventional and unconventional reservoirs.

The Graduate Summer Intern supports a defined research project involving laboratory experimentation, data analysis, literature review, or evaluation of emerging technologies related to conventional and unconventional reservoir characterization and development. Working under the guidance of experienced researchers, the intern will contribute to project deliverables while gaining practical experience in an industrial R&D environment.

SCOPE:

Focused on completing a defined, supervised research assignment related to multiphase flow, petrophysical characterization, formation evaluation, or associated technologies for conventional and unconventional reservoirs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

- Research and Technical Support Contribute to a defined research project involving multiphase flow, formation evaluation, or petrophysical characterization for conventional and unconventional reservoirs.
- Conduct focused literature reviews and summarize relevant advances in conventional and unconventional reservoir characterization and development.
- Assist with laboratory experiments, technology evaluations, or workflow development under the guidance of experienced researchers.
- Explore topics that may include transport properties, enhanced recovery, fluid-fluid and fluid-rock interactions, and formation evaluation in conventional and unconventional reservoirs.

- Data Analysis and Problem Solving Analyze experimental results and, as applicable, geological, petrophysical, completion, or production data using appropriate methods and software.
- Develop, modify, or apply code and research software, as needed, to support data analysis, modeling, experimental workflows, or technology development activities.
- Apply scientific and engineering principles to investigate research questions, identify trends, and develop well-supported conclusions.
- Document methods, assumptions, results, and limitations to support reproducible research.

- Collaboration and Communication Collaborate with team members and other R&D groups, participate in technical discussions, and incorporate feedback into assigned work.
- Prepare a technical report, project updates, and a final presentation summarizing the research problem, approach, results, and conclusions.
- Support preparation of publications, conference materials, or other technical communications when appropriate.

- Safety and Professional Responsibilities Follow all laboratory safety procedures and contribute to a safe, accident-free work environment.
- Comply with company safety, cybersecurity, confidentiality, and professional conduct requirements.
- Perform other project-related duties as assigned within the scope of the internship.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geoscience, physics, mathematics, or a related field, with current enrollment in a graduate program in one of these disciplines.
- Relevant coursework or research experience in porous media, fluid flow, petrophysics, geomechanics, reservoir engineering, laboratory characterization, or related subsurface systems is preferred.
- Experience in laboratory experimentation, data analysis, numerical methods, or scientific computing is desirable.
- Familiarity with technical computing or programming tools such as Python, C++, or MATLAB is desirable.
- Ability to review technical literature, analyze results, maintain research records, and communicate findings clearly in written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, follow guidance, and demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
- Availability for the full internship term.
