Job Description

Position Summary:
The Geological Technician supports the subsurface team through the organization, management, and interpretation of geological and well data. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate geological databases, preparing maps and technical exhibits, and supporting geologists and engineers with subsurface evaluation and development activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Petrel software, strong attention to detail, and familiarity with geological data management and interpretation workflows.

Key Accountabilities:
- Support geologists and subsurface team members with geological data management, interpretation, and development workflows.
- Create, maintain, and organize geological databases, well data, and subsurface information.
- Load, organize, and quality-check well logs, formation tops, deviation surveys, and other geological datasets.
- Utilize Petrel software to support geological interpretation, mapping, data visualization, and subsurface evaluations.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of well correlations, structure maps, cross-sections, and other geological exhibits.
- Support the integration and quality control of geological, geophysical, and well data from multiple sources.
- Prepare maps, figures, and technical presentations to support subsurface evaluations and development planning.
- Assist geologists and engineers with data preparation and analysis for drilling, completion, and development activities.
- Maintain data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across geological software and internal systems.
- Support geological data migrations, system enhancements, and workflow improvements, including the transition from Kingdom to Petrel.
- Organize and maintain geological files, documentation, and technical records.
- Collaborate with subsurface team members and other departments to support business and development objectives.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Certificates, and Licenses:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Earth Sciences, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience as a Geological Technician, Geology Technician, Subsurface Technician, or in a related oil and gas position.
- Hands-on experience with Petrel software is required.
- Experience with Kingdom software is preferred.
- Experience working with geological and well data in an upstream oil and gas environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency with Petrel software, including geological data management and interpretation workflows.
- Familiarity with Kingdom software is a plus.
- Knowledge of well logs, formation tops, deviation surveys, and geological datasets.
- Ability to prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and technical exhibits.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with geologists, engineers, and other subsurface professionals.
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
