The Role

Head of SSV Operations NFR is a senior role within Markets and Securities Services (MSS) Operations, accountable for the global Securities Services Operations risk strategy and culture. Working in a regulated environment across a large and diverse operational footprint, you’ll strengthen risk management processes and embed a robust, effective control framework across the function. Success means clearer sight of emerging risks and incident trends with timely action taken through established governance. You’ll partner closely with MSS Operations senior leadership, the Securities Services business and the wider MSS NFR team across front-to-back risk forums. The role also has a key remit in assessing non-financial risk across strategic change programmes ensuring controls are designed into solutions and transformation risk is minimised. Based in London you’ll work across global time zones with occasional travel depending on stakeholder needs.

What you'll be doing

- Own the global Securities Services Operations NFR strategy and embed it through governance forums and day-to-day decision making
- Establish and continuously improve the Operations control environment including control design standards, execution quality and evidence readiness
- Embed consistent risk and control assessments (including RCSA/ICAs where applicable) so risks are identified, assessed and treated within appetite
- Oversee end-to-end issue management for audit, regulatory and internal assurance findings including root cause analysis, sustainable remediation planning and robust validation to prevent recurrence
- Strengthen operational resilience across MSS Operations including critical service mapping, scenario testing and recovery improvements
- Build high-quality NFR management information including KRIs/KPIs, issue ageing and forward-looking indicators that enable action
- Partner with MSS Operations SLT, Securities Services and MSS NFR colleagues to surface emerging risks and incident themes with clear escalation paths
- Govern NFR oversight of strategic change and third-party arrangements ensuring controls are embedded early and sign-off is completed before go-live
- Represent Securities Services Operations NFR in senior governance, including the MSS Ops NFR Leadership Team and wider MSS risk forums; act as a key interface for 2LoD partners and Internal Audit (3LoD)
- Lead, coach and develop a globally distributed NFR team, building capability, succession cover and consistent standards across regions and time zones.

What we're looking for

- Bring significant senior experience in Operations NFR, Operational Risk or Controls within a large financial institution including Securities Services Operations.
- Demonstrate deep knowledge of risk and control frameworks, issue management and assurance and audit practices including validation approaches
- Show experience setting a strategy or roadmap, defining priorities and securing resources to deliver risk outcomes
- Evidence delivery of sustainable remediation and control uplift across complex, multi-site operations with regulatory and client impact
- Apply structured judgement to translate complex risk topics into clear actions that balance risk reduction, customer outcomes and cost efficiency
- Partner effectively with 2LoD teams and Internal Audit including coordinating responses to high-severity findings and ensuring timely closure
- Influence senior stakeholders in a matrix environment through governance forums including executive-level audiences where required
- Hold a professional risk qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience in relevant risk and control disciplines

- Proven people leadership experience across multi-site teams (coaching, performance management, talent and succession planning).
