Job Title: Union Payroll Specialist Job Description
Ensure the accurate and timely processing, printing, and distribution of payroll checks, in accordance with company policies and procedures and government legal requirements. Process payroll for 300-500 union employees while calculating prevailing wage and job cost. Write up and enter any adjustments to payroll, such as garnishments, deductions, wage assignments, vacation checks, bonus checks, advances, etc. Request all supplemental checks, such as child support, employee savings deposit, net deposit, and taxes. Process monthly billings for health and dental insurance and union dues. Ensure completion and maintenance of all required records, filings, and reports pertaining to payroll, and ensure timely filing of all required government forms and reports.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for 300-500 union employees.
- Calculate prevailing wage and job costs.
- Enter adjustments to payroll, including garnishments, deductions, and wage assignments.
- Request supplemental checks like child support and employee savings deposits.
- Process monthly billings for health and dental insurance and union dues.
- Maintain and complete all required payroll records, filings, and reports.
- Ensure timely filing of all government forms and reports.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports and filings.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of Union Payroll experience
- Union experience is a must
- Knowledge of central region and states payroll rules and regulations
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Excel, including pivot tables and vlookups
- Ability to adapt to new laws and regulations
- Experience in reconciliation to the GL
Work Environment
This role supports the central region and is based in Minneapolis, MN. The manager is located in California, but there are other payroll team members at this office. The position requires 100% in-office attendance during the initial training period, followed by a hybrid schedule, typically Tuesday through Thursday in the office. The work involves dealing with 15 different unions, each with sub-agreements, adding complexity to the role. The position involves co-managing with another Payroll Lead and reporting to the Payroll Manager. The team comprises heavy payroll responsibilities with specific functions like certified payroll reporting managed by others.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.75 - $38.17/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
