Job Title: Cost Accountant (Temporary, Manufacturing) Job Description We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join a manufacturing finance team on a temporary basis. In this role, you will support cost accounting, inventory accounting, month-end close activities, and SOX compliance initiatives. This opportunity is ideal for seasoned accounting professionals who are interested in a short-term engagement where they can quickly add value in a complex manufacturing environment. Responsibilities

- Perform cost accounting activities to support accurate product costing and financial reporting within a manufacturing environment.
- Manage and reconcile inventory accounting, ensuring accurate valuation and alignment with manufacturing operations.
- Support and execute month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Assist with SOX compliance initiatives by following established controls, documenting processes, and supporting audit requirements.
- Apply a strong understanding of manufacturing accounting processes to ensure accurate recording and reporting of costs.
- Work closely with finance leadership and accounting staff to provide timely financial information and analysis.
- Utilize ERP and accounting software systems to process transactions, analyze data, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Operate independently with minimal ramp-up time, quickly learning existing processes and contributing to ongoing projects.
- Support manufacturing operations by providing financial insights and ensuring alignment between operational activities and accounting records.
- Collaborate with team members in a finance team of approximately six employees to meet deadlines and support business needs.

Essential Skills

- 4 to 5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Hands-on inventory accounting experience, including valuation and reconciliation.
- Demonstrated month-end close experience, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- SOX compliance experience, including working with internal controls and documentation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting processes and cost flows.
- ERP and accounting software experience, with the ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal ramp-up time in a complex environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience supporting manufacturing operations and partnering with operational teams.
- Previous experience in complex manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with one or more ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Unanet, or Sage.
- Experience with Bill.com for accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Experience with Divvy or similar expense management tools.
- Strong collaboration skills to work closely with finance leadership and accounting staff.

Work Environment This is a temporary role with an expected duration of 4 to 6 months, with potential for extension based on business needs. The position is fully onsite, five days per week, in a manufacturing-focused finance environment. The schedule offers a flexible start time between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, with a standard 8-hour workday. You will work as part of a finance team of approximately six employees and interact closely with finance leadership and accounting staff. The role involves extensive use of ERP and accounting software systems, and you will operate in a structured environment that emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and collaboration.

This is a Contract position based out of Groton, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
