It's up to you to make it happen.  What’s the role? Bloomberg’s Legal & Compliance Department plays a critical role in supporting our businesses and operations around the world. We move quickly and thoughtfully to help address a variety of complex legal issues that arise across the Company’s various businesses. The Financial Crimes and International Trade Legal team provides coverage of sanctions, anti-money laundering, anti-fraud and anti-corruption, and international trade laws in the U.S., U.K., E.U. and numerous other jurisdictions where the Company operates. The coverage spans a broad range of business activities, including financial data and analytics, electronic trading services and execution and order management systems, news and media, software development and engineering, and venture capital investments and acquisitions, and extends to the Company’s philanthropic activity.   You will be responsible for knowing and applying financial crimes international trade laws of each relevant jurisdiction to the Company’s activities, effectively articulating the perspectives and priorities of government authorities to stakeholders across a broad range of job functions, and designing practical approaches to challenging legal questions spawned by evolving regulations and business innovation. You will closely coordinate with Compliance to support the implementation of controls and resolution of escalated issues.     We’ll trust you to: • Partner with stakeholders across the Company to drive legal support for business initiatives, and interact with clients, industry groups and government bodies • Build and maintain legal expertise across a broad range of financial crimes and international trade-related laws in numerous jurisdictions • Develop globally workable frameworks to address differing regulatory approaches, requirements and expectations across multiple jurisdictions • Manage financial crimes and international trade legal risks by strategically partnering with personnel across the Company, including Product, Sales, Engineering, Finance, Risk, Information Security and Compliance • Creatively conceive, advocate for and drive implementation of solutions • Draft financial crimes and international trade contractual provisions for a broad range of relationships, and handle escalated negotiation issues  • Prepare reports, applications and responses to regulatory bodies  • Assist with internal investigations and remediations You’ll need to have: • A JD degree • 7+ years of legal experience in one or more financial crimes or international trade areas at a law firm • Strong drafting skills • A broad curiosity about financial crimes and international trade-related laws and a desire to continually grow legal expertise across disciplines and jurisdictions • The ability to juggle multiple projects • The flexibility and desire to constantly learn, adapt and grow by covering new services and products and mastering new areas of law and regulation  • We’d love to see: • A basic familiarity with and interest in financial markets • Prior experience demonstrating regular increases in responsibilities and expanding areas of legal coverage • Familiarity with software and technology in the financial services space IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE YOU: Apply if you think we're a good match. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
