About this role

The Pava Marie LaPere Center for Entrepreneurship, part of Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV), supports student entrepreneurship and innovation, offering experiential learning and career-relevant opportunities for undergraduates through post-docs.

We are seeking an Assistant Director, Pava Center who will play a key role in supporting commercialization efforts, administering funding awards, managing programs, and connecting students with resources to help their ventures grow. This role will also help facilitate student venture accelerator programming and work closely with the Carey Business School to develop new initiatives for student entrepreneurs.

Reporting to the Director FastForward Innovation & Programming, the strategic priorities of the Assistant Director Pava Center are to drive growth, foster collaboration across all ten Johns Hopkins schools, and empower successful ventures. This leadership role focuses on expanding programming, enhancing initiatives, and creating a cooperative ecosystem for entrepreneurship across campus. The Assistant Director will bring experience in mentoring startups and working with students and universities, along with a proven ability to collaborate with partners from multiple sectors.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Student accelerator management and programming support

- Manage participant selection and administers all programming for an upper-level accelerator each semester, including

oSupervise 4-6 student-staff peer advisors.

oLead and manage processes for grant funding.

oPlan and execute the demo day showcase for up to fifteen teams.

- Collaborate on the Fuel and community-based Social Innovation Lab accelerators, as needed and/or as strategic to synchronize with other programming.
- Provide direct mentoring and general advising to student entrepreneurs regarding their ideas and ventures.
- Help to identify and curate relevant funding opportunities for student entrepreneurs.
- Write letters of support/recommendation, as needed, for grants or other opportunities.
- Provide support and mentorship to all Pava Center accelerator alumni, as needed.
- Support the Summer Incubator, including assisting in advertising, selecting participants, and developing programming.
- Support collaborative programming around fall orientation activities and/or January intersession activities, including developing programming and hosting responsibilities.
- Support the Director FastForward Innovation & Programming and other parties on software platforms, including evaluation, implementation, and user feedback.

Other Center support

- Help coordinate resources and plans for community events, in coordination with the Pava Center staff.
- Collaborate on program-focused marketing collateral and newsletter content.
- Draft proposals for strategic initiatives related to student entrepreneurship.
- Lead presentations to student groups, classes, JHU offices, community events and prospective students through the Admissions department to inform them about the resources provided by the Pava Center for Entrepreneurship.
- Work with the other professional staff to serve as a first point of contact and liaison for new opportunities and initiatives.
- Measure accelerator impact through data collection and analysis, followed by reporting up and out to the Director FastForward Innovation & Programming on improving programmatic design and implementation.
- Make further recommendations to the Director FastForward Innovation & Programming.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- Three years of related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- U.S. Citizen or legal permanent resident required due to Federal Export Controls.
