Lab Technician

Job Title: Laboratory Technician Genotyping (3rd Shift) Job Description
This role supports daily activities in a genotyping laboratory by leading general operations, maintaining an orderly and clean workspace, and ensuring that all laboratory processes run smoothly. The technician receives and labels incoming samples, maintains labware inventory, prepares buffers and reagents, operates and troubleshoots equipment used for genotyping production, and reviews and archives task-related documentation while strictly following safety and workflow guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring housekeeping, orderliness, and cleanliness of the workspace.
- Receive, log, and accurately label incoming samples in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain and replenish labware inventory to ensure sufficient supplies for ongoing laboratory activities.
- Prepare buffers and reagents following standardized protocols and quality requirements.
- Operate equipment required for genotyping production and perform basic troubleshooting as needed.
- Review, organize, and archive task-related documents to maintain accurate and complete records.
- Understand, follow, and promote Employee Safety and Health (ESH) guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and workflow guidelines.
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to laboratory safety practices and reporting issues promptly.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize work to meet laboratory timelines.
- Work effectively with more than one supervisor and respond constructively to direction and feedback.
- Interface and collaborate with other functions, including manufacturing and research personnel, to support laboratory and production goals.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in a scientific field such as biology, chemistry, or a related discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Practical understanding of laboratory practices in biology and/or chemistry.
- Ability to prepare buffers and reagents accurately according to established protocols.
- Experience operating laboratory equipment, with the ability to perform basic troubleshooting.
- Strong attention to detail in sample receiving, labeling, and documentation.
- Ability to follow ESH guidelines, SOPs, and workflow instructions consistently.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with multiple supervisors and cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a genotyping or molecular biology laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with inventory management of labware and consumables.
- Comfort with reviewing, organizing, and archiving technical and operational documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean, orderly, and safety-focused workspace.
- Collaborative mindset for working with manufacturing and research personnel.
Work Environment
This position is based in a genotyping laboratory and operates on 3rd shift, from 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. The role involves working in a controlled lab environment with biological and chemical materials, regular use of laboratory equipment, and adherence to strict safety, ESH, and SOP guidelines. The technician works closely with supervisors, manufacturing teams, and research staff in a setting that emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and safe laboratory practices.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
