The Construction Manager leads the planning, design coordination, and execution of multiple concurrent retrofit, renovation, expansion, and tenant improvement projects across a U.S. fulfillment and industrial facilities network. This role owns the full project lifecycle from preconstruction planning through construction execution, commissioning, and operational handoff. You manage approximately 510 projects simultaneously, ensuring each initiative meets scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality expectations while supporting active fulfillment, distribution, manufacturing, and industrial operations. You collaborate closely with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-impact projects safely, efficiently, and in alignment with established standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead construction projects through the complete lifecycle, including planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover to operations.
- Manage multiple concurrent retrofit, renovation, expansion, and tenant improvement projects, typically overseeing 510 active projects at any given time.
- Drive preconstruction activities such as budgeting, estimating, design reviews, constructability reviews, scheduling, and risk management to set projects up for successful execution.
- Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, design consultants, contractors, and internal business stakeholders to align scope, design intent, and operational requirements.
- Oversee construction execution in active industrial and fulfillment environments, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Negotiate and manage construction, procurement, and labor contracts, including contract reviews and vendor relationship management.
- Identify project risks early and develop mitigation strategies to maintain delivery commitments and minimize operational disruption.
- Provide regular project reporting, including financial updates, forecasts, and executive-level communication on status, risks, and key decisions.
- Support fulfillment centers, distribution centers, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and other industrial operations within assigned regions.
- Utilize construction scheduling and project management tools to plan, track, and adjust project timelines and resources.
- Manage RFIs, change management, and documentation to maintain clear, accurate, and timely project records.
- Balance competing priorities across multiple projects in different phases, ensuring consistent progress from concept through turnover.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure projects integrate smoothly with ongoing operations and meet business objectives.
- Travel to project sites approximately 20% of the time to oversee field activities, conduct site visits, and support on-site teams as needed.
Essential Skills
- Proven end-to-end construction and preconstruction management experience, from concept and design through construction, commissioning, and operational handoff.
- Strong understanding of both preconstruction planning and field execution in industrial or commercial environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing 510 concurrent retrofit, renovation, expansion, or tenant improvement projects.
- Experience overseeing project budgets, schedules, procurement, contractor management, and risk mitigation.
- Background in commercial and/or industrial construction, including fulfillment centers, distribution centers, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, or large commercial facilities.
- Strong understanding of industrial facility construction and the constraints of working within active, operational environments.
- Experience as a Construction Manager, Project Construction Manager (PCM), or Pre-Construction Manager.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating with architects, engineers, consultants, and design teams.
- Proven stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with executive-level audiences.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and vendor relationships across multiple concurrent projects.
- Contract negotiation and procurement experience, including contract review and vendor selection.
- Ability to travel regionally as needed, approximately 20% of the time.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.

- Experience supporting fulfillment centers, warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, or large commercial facilities.
- Large-scale retrofit, renovation, tenant improvement, and expansion project experience, particularly in occupied and operational facilities.
- Experience delivering projects in active operational environments with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
- Familiarity with logistics, industrial engineering, or supply chain environments.
- Experience simultaneously managing multiple projects in varying stages of design and construction.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and BIM platforms for design coordination and review.
- Experience using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other construction scheduling software.
- Experience with cost estimating and budget management for construction projects.
- Experience with procurement and contract negotiation, including RFIs and stakeholder management.
- Construction management, project management, site development, and project coordination experience.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where projects move quickly from preconstruction into execution, typically following a 4-month preconstruction phase and a 68 week construction cycle.
- Motivation to take ownership of projects from initial concept through final delivery, with significant autonomy and visibility to senior leadership.
Work Environment
This role operates in a fully remote capacity with approximately 20% travel to project sites, typically within a regional territory. Candidates may be based in locations such as Kentucky, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Texas, Illinois, or broader Midwest and Northeast regions. You manage 510 projects at a time, with typical timelines including about 34 months of preconstruction work followed by 68 weeks of on-site construction. Many site visits can be completed as day trips depending on location and project needs, and travel can be flexed to align with your schedule and project priorities. You work closely with fulfillment centers, distribution centers, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and other industrial environments, often in occupied and operational facilities. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $68.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
