This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Why This Role Matters

You will be a core member of our software development team. Working closely with product managers and developers, your mission is to champion product quality from day one by embedding a shift-left testing strategy.

Rather than testing only at the end of the release pipeline, you will collaborate from the initial requirements and design phases to prevent defects, establish clear acceptance criteria and help shape our test architecture. You will drive comprehensive testing strategies — spanning automated, exploratory and regression testing — to ensure smooth, frequent and reliable releases while advancing adherence to quality standards and industry best practices.

Our team is responsible for the OHdio ecosystem, Radio-Canada’s flagship French-language audio platform. By joining this cross-platform initiative (covering iOS and Android mobile apps, web, connected car systems like CarPlay and Android Auto, and smart devices), you will directly impact the daily listening experience of hundreds of thousands of users. From live radio streams and original podcasts to audiobooks and curated playlists, you will ensure continuous stability, high performance and top-tier quality for a premier digital product.

How You Will Make an Impact

- Actively participate in design sessions to identify acceptance criteria, edge cases, risks and functional ambiguities before development begins.
- Act as a quality gatekeeper to ensure features meet all readiness criteria before entering the development workflow.
- Draft and maintain structured test cases (BDD/steps) in TestRail, prioritizing them as the product evolves.
- Define feature-level test strategies alongside developers, determining the appropriate test types (unit, integration, snapshot, E2E, manual) across each layer.
- Identify and prepare necessary test data for validation.
- Collaborate with developers during sprints to clarify acceptance criteria and resolve ambiguous technical behaviours.
- Perform incremental validations throughout the sprint to catch defects early.
- Document defects with clear, reproducible steps so developers can act on them immediately without back-and-forth.
- Help build, expand and maintain our automated test suite in collaboration with developers.
- Actively participate in the release management process.
- Track and analyze quality KPIs (defect discovery stages, reopen rates, automation coverage, etc.) to drive data-informed retrospectives.
- Share best practices with other QAAs to maintain consistent approaches across projects.
- Empower all team members to work autonomously and take ownership of quality.

What You Bring

- College diploma or university degree, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working on complex web and mobile application development projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with shift-left QA practices (e.g., drafting acceptance criteria and test cases prior to development).
- Deep understanding of application life cycles across iOS, Android and web environments.
- Solid grasp of test pyramid concepts (unit, integration, snapshot, E2E, smoke and regression testing).
- Experience writing BDD test scenarios (Gherkin syntax) in TestRail.
- Proficiency with API testing and payload validation tools (Postman, Playwright API or equivalent).
- Ability to interpret CI/CD build results and diagnose pipeline failures.
- Experience conducting structured exploratory testing.
- Confidence in making data-driven go/no-go release decisions.
- Strong collaborative approach when working alongside developers and product owners.
- A proactive mindset with a knack for asking the right questions to resolve ambiguities before they turn into defects.
- High attention to detail and self-direction skills.
- Experience working within Agile environments.
- Fluency in French (required).
- Working knowledge of spoken and written English an asset.
- Experience with mobile E2E automation frameworks (Appium, Detox or equivalent) an asset.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools (Copilot, MCP TestRail, agentic AI) an asset.
- Proficiency with browser diagnostic tools (Chrome DevTools) an asset.
- Understanding of digital accessibility standards (A11Y) an asset.
