Sr. Data Engineer

Position Overview

The Leading Hotels of the World is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Data team as part of the next phase of our data transformation. The Sr. Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain the data infrastructure and pipelines that turn enterprise data into reliable, reusable data products for reporting, analytics, AI, machine learning, and business operations.

This role will help establish a trusted and scalable data foundation by ensuring data is clean, accessible, reliable, and built for reuse across the organization. Working cross-functionally with business and technology teams, the Senior Data Engineer will help deliver high-quality data that supports enterprise decision-making. The role will also help define and implement DataOps and data engineering best practices as LHW continues to strengthen its enterprise data capabilities.

This is a full-time position located in New York City. We offer flexible workplace policies that allow for working remotely 3 days a week and require being in our NYC office 2 days a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays).

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Data Products

- Design, build, and optimize data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery.

- Develop and maintain scalable data architectures, including data lakes and data warehouses.

- Build reliable, reusable data products and data models that support reporting, analytics, AI, machine learning, and business operations.

- Optimize performance across data platforms and pipelines.

Data Quality, Standards & Reliability

- Ensure data is clean, reliable, accessible, and available for enterprise use.

- Apply established data governance, quality, lineage, and security standards within data engineering solutions.

- Support the delivery of trusted and consistent enterprise data.

Business Partnership & Engineering Practices

- Partner cross-functionally with business and technology teams to deliver timely, high-quality data.

- Help define and implement best practices in DataOps and data engineering.

- Mentor junior data engineer and promote data engineering best practices.

Qualifications and Skills

- Bachelor’s degree (BS) required and 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related field

- Deep experience with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks).

- Strong experience with the AWS technology stack, including AWS Glue, Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon Aurora MySQL.

- Strong hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks, including Spark, Airflow, and dbt.

- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python.

- Experience designing and building scalable data pipelines, data models, and data products.

- Experience with large-scale data processing and distributed systems.

- Knowledge of data quality, lineage, performance tuning, security, and established data governance standards.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.

Compensation

Annualized Salary Range: $140,000 - $160,000

Target Annual Incentive bonus: 10%

**Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, and location.
