Associate Data Engineer

Position Overview

he Leading Hotels of the World is seeking an Associate Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Data team as part of the next phase of our data transformation. The Associate Data Engineer will support the development and maintenance of the data infrastructure and pipelines that turn enterprise data into reliable, reusable data products for reporting, analytics, AI, machine learning, and business operations.

Working alongside senior engineers and cross-functional business and technology teams, this role will build and maintain data pipelines, contribute to data modeling, and help ensure data is clean, accessible, reliable, and built for reuse across the organization. This is an opportunity for someone with early professional experience to deepen their technical expertise while taking on greater ownership of data engineering workflows and contributing to DataOps and data engineering best practices.

This is a full-time position located in New York City. We offer flexible workplace policies that allow for working remotely 3 days a week and require being in our NYC office 2 days a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays).

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Data Products

- Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery.

- Develop and maintain data models that support reporting, analytics, and other enterprise data use cases.

- Contribute to the development of reliable, reusable data products.

- Support the onboarding and integration of new data sources.

- Write efficient, scalable SQL queries and contribute to performance optimization.

Data Quality & Reliability

- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to support reliability, performance, and accuracy.

- Implement and maintain data quality checks and validation processes.

- Apply established data governance, quality, lineage, and security standards within data engineering workflows.

- Document data architecture, pipelines, and workflows with a focus on clarity and maintainability.

Business Partnership & Engineering Practices

- Work cross-functionally with business and technology teams to deliver timely, high-quality data.

- Contribute to DataOps processes and data engineering standards and best practices.

- Assist in evaluating data engineering tools and technologies.

Qualifications and Skills

- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 2–4 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related technical role

- Strong proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of Python or a similar language.

- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.

- Hands-on experience with modern data platforms and tools (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, dbt, Airflow).

- Experience with or exposure to the AWS technology stack, including AWS Glue, Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon Aurora MySQL.

- Experience with or exposure to Spark.

- Experience debugging data issues and working with production data pipelines.

- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

- Ability to manage tasks independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

Compensation

Annualized Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000

Target Annual Incentive bonus: 10%

**Actual base salary within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, and location.
