Summary of Role:
Lead the development of the QPDK (Quantum PDK) infrastructure powering the future of quantum computing. The QPDK Architect defines and implements the architecture, governance, and delivery of GlobalFoundries' Quantum PDKs, driving technical decisions and hands-on execution across PDK infrastructure, release management, automation, and design enablement flows.
Essential Responsibilities:
Define and maintain the overall architecture for all Quantum PDKs (QPDKs).
Create QPDKs from existing GF PDKs, establishing the optimal balance between reuse, customization, and maintainability.
Drive a LEAN PDK philosophy by eliminating unnecessary legacy content, tools, layers, devices, and processes while preserving customer-required functionality.
Own QPDK version control infrastructure, release baselines, branching strategies, access control, and configuration management.
Define, implement, and continuously improve QPDK development, quality assurance, release, and change-management processes.
Drive timely, high-quality QPDK releases through effective governance, planning, and execution.
Evaluate updates from source PDKs and selectively integrate enhancements into QPDKs based on customer and business value.
Leverage AI, automation, and data-driven methodologies to improve QPDK development efficiency, quality, and time-to-market.
Other Responsibilities:
Assess, define, and drive Assembly Design Kit (ADK) requirements and integration strategies in collaboration with the 3DIC internal team.
Manage licensing, compute resources, and development environments for QPDK teams.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and architectural reviews across the QPDK organization.
Maintain expertise in at least one core PDK discipline (e.g., PCells, DRC, LVS, PEX, Design Manuel) and contribute directly to development activities as needed.
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications:
Education - BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.
Experience - Minimum 10 years in semiconductor PDK development or design enablement.
Deep expertise in at least one major PDK development area.
Experience with source-control systems, release management, and EDA tool flows.
Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional technical initiatives.
Travel - Up to 10%
Fluency in English Language – written & verbal
Preferred Qualifications:
Education - MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.
Experience - 15+ years’ experience in semiconductor PDK development and design enablement
Experience with cryogenic, quantum, advanced packaging, or heterogeneous integration technologies is a plus.
Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong planning & organizational skills.
Expected Salary Range
$143,000.00 - $247,000.00
