Job Title: Inside Sales Representative Job Description
The Inside Sales Representative receives and processes customer requests for quotes, orders, and lead times while delivering a high level of customer service. This role prepares quotations for both standard and custom products, enters and manages orders accurately, and communicates timely and relevant information to customers. The position also coordinates with vendors and internal departments to support purchase orders and ensure smooth service delivery, while managing the retail store function and handling counter sales at the branch.
Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to customer requests for quotes, orders, and lead times in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare accurate quotations for standard and custom items based on customer requirements and company guidelines.
- Enter, update, and maintain customer orders and related data with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
- Relay pertinent information to customers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and order status.
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing, product information, and delivery schedules needed to support customer orders.
- Collaborate with internal departments, such as procurement, supply chain, and other operational teams, to ensure orders are processed efficiently and customer needs are met.
- Manage the retail store function at the branch, including maintaining a professional and organized counter sales area.
- Handle counter sales by assisting walk-in customers, identifying their needs, and recommending appropriate products and solutions.
- Provide consistent, courteous customer service while adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Use Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, to prepare quotes, track orders, and support sales activities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to quotes, orders, and customer interactions.
- Listen actively to customers, clarify their needs, and communicate clearly to ensure understanding and satisfaction.
- Apply persuasive communication and interpersonal skills to promote products and gain customer acceptance.
- Pay close attention to detail in all aspects of data entry, documentation, and customer communication.
- Perform all tasks thoroughly and in an organized manner to support efficient branch operations.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2+ years of inside sales experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, oil and gas, or distribution environments.
- Customer service experience with a strong focus on meeting customer needs while following company procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including experience with Excel.
- Ability to perform accurate and thorough data entry and order processing.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use appropriate communication methods to gain acceptance of products.
- Effective persuasive communication skills when presenting information to customers.
- Strong listening skills with the ability to actively attend to and understand customer comments and questions.
- Clear oral and written communication skills with a strong command of the English language.
- High level of organization and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong attention to detail in handling quotes, orders, and customer information.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in procurement or supply chain support is beneficial.
- Retail or counter sales experience in a branch or store environment is an advantage.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with vendors and internal departments.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing customer needs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve customer issues efficiently.
Work Environment
The role is based in a branch environment that includes a retail store and counter sales area. The Inside Sales Representative works standard weekday hours, typically Monday through Friday during daytime business hours, such as an 8am to 5pm schedule. The position involves frequent interaction with customers in person, by phone, and via email, as well as regular communication with vendors and internal teams. The work requires use of computers and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for data entry, quotations, and order management. The environment emphasizes professionalism, organization, and responsiveness to customer needs.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broussard, LA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.44 - $28.85/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be
