About this role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Field Service professional to lead and develop DN Solutions Field Service Technician Apprenticeship Program. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision, technical development, and progression of Field Service apprentices while building and maintaining a structured training curriculum designed to develop qualified CNC Field Service Engineers.

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced CNC service technician or field service engineer with strong hands-on knowledge of CNC machine tools, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, CNC controls, machine installation, maintenance, and repair. The successful candidate must be able to translate practical field experience into a structured training program and effectively coach technicians with varying levels of technical experience.

This is a hands-on leadership and training position. The successful candidate will spend significant time working directly with apprentices, demonstrating troubleshooting techniques, evaluating technical skills, and preparing them for independent field assignments.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and continuously improve a structured Field Service Apprenticeship curriculum covering mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, CNC control, and machine-tool troubleshooting.

- Establish a clear training progression with defined skills, competencies, and performance expectations for each stage of the apprenticeship.

- Provide hands-on technical instruction and practical training using CNC machine tools, components, electrical systems, controls, and diagnostic equipment.

- Directly supervise and mentor Field Service apprentices throughout their apprenticeship, providing regular coaching and performance feedback.

- Train apprentices in systematic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis rather than component replacement or trial-and-error repair.

- Develop training modules covering machine installation, preventive maintenance, machine calibration, electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repair, spindle systems, servo systems, ATC systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, lubrication, and CNC controls.

- Provide practical training on Fanuc,Siemens, and other applicable CNC control systems.

- Train apprentices to interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, machine drawings, ladder logic, and technical documentation.

- Develop hands-on assessments and proficiency standards to determine when apprentices are ready to progress to more advanced work and eventually perform field service independently.

- Coordinate with experienced Field Service Engineers to expose apprentices to customer-site service calls, installations, machine start-ups, repairs, and troubleshooting.

- Track apprentice progress, training completion, technical competencies, and areas requiring additional development.

- Identify skill gaps and modify training plans based on apprentice performance and the changing technical requirements of the Field Service organization.

- Maintain current technical training materials, procedures, troubleshooting guides, checklists, and other apprenticeship documentation.

- Partner with Field Service leadership to ensure the apprenticeship program develops technicians with the skills required to support DN Solutions CNC equipment and customers.

- Reinforce company standards for customer service, safety, documentation, communication, and professional conduct.

- Assist in developing standardized service procedures and best practices based on field experience.

- Support the recruiting and evaluation of future Field Service apprentices by helping assess technical aptitude and hands-on potential.

Job Requirements

- 7+ years of hands-on CNC Field Service, Machine Tool Service, or closely related technical experience.

- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.

- Demonstrated experience servicing CNC machine tools.

- Ability to diagnose problems systematically and explain technical concepts to less-experienced technicians.

- Strong communication, coaching, and mentoring skills.

- Ability to develop technical training materials and practical skills assessments.

- Ability to work effectively with apprentices ranging from entry-level to experienced technicians transitioning into CNC Field Service.

- Willingness to travel periodically with apprentices to customer locations for hands-on training.

- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites as required.

- Ability to read and understand technical documentation, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.

- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with DN Solutions / Doosan CNC machine tools.

- Previous experience as a Field Service Trainer, Lead Field Service Engineer, Service Supervisor, or Technical Trainer.

- Experience training apprentices, technicians, or junior Field Service Engineers.

- Experience with 5-axis machining centers and/or CNC turning equipment.
