Head Bartender

Job Description
The Platform performing arts center is a new venture located in Kendall Square, offering ample opportunities for experienced bar staff. We're looking for a technically skilled bartender to head up the daily cocktail bar operations. This role will oversee the quality and flow of the bar space during public operation. The Head Bartender will also support the Food and Beverage Manager with inventory, menu conception, and special events between the main bar and upstairs concession bar.
Projected Working Hours
Monday – Saturday, 2:00PM – 12:00AM with some flexibility.
Includes some holidays.
Compensation
$15/hr + shared tips (Full-time; 5-6 days a week)
Responsibilities
- Mixing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks using the bar's recipes
- Greeting and interacting with guests in a hospitable way
- Checking IDs to verify legal drinking age
- Processing cash and credit card payments via POS system
- Supporting the Food and Beverage Manager
- Overseeing regular daily bar operations
- Closing bar operations
- Maintaining the expected standard of service
- Collaborating with the Food and Beverage Manager to create menus with consultations from Sam Treadway
- Helping to maintain and track inventory
Required Qualifications
- 4 years of bartending experience
- General mixology knowledge
- General beer and wine knowledge
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Square or Toast
- General experience with Microsoft Excel
- TIPS certification
- Ability to lift 30+ lbs
Preferred but Not Required Qualifications
- 5 years of service-related experience
- Serve Safe certifications
- Allergen safe certification
- Crowd safe certification
- An interest in global dance, music, and art
- A passion for mixology and the world of beverages
