About this role
- Perform surface preparation activities, which include masking and sanding of product prior to painting or sandblasting.
- Clean and maintain paint shop equipment such as air lines, fluid lines, paint pots, paint guns and respirators.
- Paint blast and coat products
- Clean and store empty paint containers for proper disposal
- Maintain and change paint booth media filters and surface protectant coatings as needed.
- Properly contain hazardous waste generated from normal paint shop operations
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Knowledge/basic understanding of blasting processes to include maintaining airlines, fluid lines, paint guns cleaning tanks & respirator tanks.
- Adds surface roughness test tape to paint reports
- Sandblasts heavy steel equipment to NACE/SSPC standards.
- Wears a respirator when performing blasting operations.
- Cleans/maintain airlines and respirators.
- Assist with cleanliness of the paint area.
- Ability to work with heavy equipment and lift 45 pounds
- Capability to learn on the job and apply.
- Performs tasks necessary to complete products to engineering specifications and quality requirements.
- Performs other work-related tasks as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.
- Minimum of 2-years of painting heavy equipment experience
- High school diploma, or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiarity with the use of tools, fixtures and equipment for blasting
- Speaks and reads in English.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 40-hours
- Troubleshoots blasting equipment and performs general repairs to assigned equipment.
- Works in warehouse/shop floor environment setting 100%
- Exposed to loud noise while in the warehouse.
- Exposed to moving parts while on the shop floor.
- Must be flexible to work overtime, when needed.
- Exposed to occasional hot and / or cold weather depending on outside climate conditions and warehouse temperature since the shop floor is neither airconditioned nor heated.
