The Quality Control Technician inspects and tests incoming raw materials, in-transfer products, and finished goods related to disposables and electronics, ensuring they meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role documents non-conformances, supports process improvements, and follows quality system regulations, ISO standards, and internal procedures to maintain consistent product quality and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming raw materials related to disposables and electronics, performing visual, dimensional, and functional inspections to verify conformance to specifications.
- Identify key inspection points for materials and products and select the appropriate inspection tools and equipment to evaluate those points accurately.
- Perform inspections and verification of finished products to ensure they meet all quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Review inspection data and Device History Records (DHRs), including sterilization records, to confirm accuracy and compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
- Perform inspections and process returned goods and materials (RGAs/RMAs), documenting findings and ensuring proper disposition.
- Use recognized sampling plans to determine statistically appropriate sample sizes for inspections and tests.
- Perform and review tests in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) protocol requirements and document results following Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
- Generate non-conforming material reports (NCMRs) for products or materials that do not meet test specifications and promptly notify the appropriate personnel.
- Document and review inspection results clearly and accurately in the designated quality systems and documentation tools.
- Review processes for procedural compliance and recommend improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and consistency.
- Assist engineering staff with process improvement projects, including improved quality inspection of products and components, First Article Inspections, and qualification testing.
- Work across all quality assurance areas, including incoming quality control (IQC), finals, and electronics, as needed to support business requirements.
- Communicate department and company needs to management in a clear and timely manner.
- Understand, follow, and apply Quality System Regulations (QSR), ISO standards, and internal quality guidelines in all daily activities.
- Execute and maintain documentation and records within the designated ERP or quality documentation systems.
- Perform visual and dimensional testing, including leak, stress, and punch/pull tests using Instron equipment, micrometers, calipers, and other metrology tools.
- Support troubleshooting activities related to quality issues and assist in identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Work collaboratively with team members and other departments in a team-oriented environment to resolve issues and improve processes.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years of previous quality control experience.
- Strong dimensional inspection skills using calipers, micrometers, snap gauges, torque tools, vision systems, optical comparators, OGP Smart systems, and other inspection and measurement tools.
- Ability to perform visual and dimensional testing, including leak, stress, and punch/pull tests using Instron equipment, micrometers, and calipers.
- Experience with incoming inspection processes for raw materials and components.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, product specifications, and procedures.
- Proficiency in using metrology and other testing equipment for quality inspections.
- Experience generating and working with non-conformance reports (NCMRs) and handling non-conforming materials.
- Experience with Device History Records (DHRs) and the complete work order process from start to finish.
- Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Access.
- Ability to use ERP or quality documentation systems for recording inspections and maintaining records.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational skills and the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other departments and individuals in a team environment.
- Adaptability to changing environments and priorities, with a proactive and accountable work style.
- Ability to work overtime on Fridays when required.
- Experience working in medical device, cleanroom, or similarly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with pneumatics, mechanical, and electrical testing as part of quality inspections.
- Understanding of and adherence to QSR, ISO, GMP, and GDP requirements in daily work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical device manufacturing environment is highly desired.
- Experience working in cleanroom conditions is beneficial.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills in quality control settings.
- Experience supporting First Article Inspections and qualification testing.
- Exposure to or experience with electronics inspection within a quality assurance function.
- A proactive, "go-getter" attitude with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Ability to support multiple quality assurance areas, including incoming inspection, final inspection, and electronics.
- Comfort working with recognized sampling plans and basic statistical concepts in quality control.
- Professional demeanor and reliability in meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
Work Environment
The role operates in a regulated manufacturing and quality assurance environment that may include medical device and cleanroom areas. The Quality Control Technician uses a variety of inspection and test equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, snap gauges, torque tools, optical comparators, OGP Smart systems, vision systems, metrology tools, and Instron machines for leak, stress, and punch/pull testing. Work also involves handling pneumatics, mechanical, and electrical testing as part of routine inspections. The position relies on computer-based tools, including MS Excel, MS Access, and ERP or quality documentation systems, to record inspection data, manage DHRs, and generate NCMRs. The standard work schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with the ability to work overtime on Fridays as needed to support production and quality demands. The environment emphasizes adherence to QSR, ISO, GMP, and GDP requirements, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a strong focus on accuracy, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
