The Impact You'll Make

- Conduct natural resources field investigations including wetland delineations, stream assessments, habitat evaluations, protected species surveys, and environmental site assessments.

- Perform environmental field work and collect data in support of transportation and infrastructure projects throughout North Carolina.

- Prepare natural resources technical reports (NRTRs), environmental permitting packages and coordinate with regulatory agencies to support project approvals.

- Perform on-site natural resources field investigations and/or inspections and collect samples of soil, water, air, and biological materials to assess environmental conditions and identify potential environmental impacts.

- Utilize GIS and other software tools to develop mapping, environmental exhibits, and project documentation.

- Support transportation planning and design teams by identifying environmental constraints and recommending avoidance, minimization, and mitigation strategies.

- Assist with the development of NEPA/SEPA documentation, environmental studies, technical reports, and project deliverables.

- Participate in public involvement efforts, agency coordination, and stakeholder meetings as needed.

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality environmental solutions that meet project schedules and client objectives.

The Expertise You'll Bring

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Geography, or a related field.

- 5+ years of experience in environmental permitting, environmental planning, and transportation-related projects.

- Experience preparing environmental documentation and permitting packages for transportation and infrastructure projects.

- Working knowledge of NEPA and SEPA processes and environmental compliance requirements.

- Experience working with NCDOT, resource agencies, local governments, or related transportation clients preferred.

- Proficiency with GIS and Microsoft Office applications; MicroStation or CADD experience is a plus.

- Strong technical writing, communication, and analytical skills.

- Ability to manage multiple assignments while working independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

- Self-starter with strong organizational, research, and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability and willingness to travel to project sites and occasionally stay overnight when required.
