Structural Steel Fabrication Superintendent – Gallaway, TN

Starting Salary: $80,000/year — higher depending on experience
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced structural steel fabrication leader to oversee daily production across two nearby facilities and multiple shifts. This position provides hands-on leadership to shop supervisors while maintaining focus on safety, quality, production efficiency, equipment, staffing, and delivery schedules.
The ideal candidate has extensive structural steel experience and a strong understanding of AISC and AWS standards, coating requirements, fabrication processes, and industrial safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily production activities across both facilities and shifts.
- Lead and develop supervisors and production teams.
- Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
- Oversee facility, machinery, and equipment maintenance.
- Improve fabrication efficiency, workflow, and overall shop productivity.
- Maintain quality standards and ensure work meets applicable AISC and AWS requirements.
- Coordinate production schedules and shipping/delivery commitments.
- Oversee multiple departments, including:
Receiving & Inventory
- CNC Processing
- Fabrication & Welding
- Paint
- Shipping
- Support recruiting, employee retention, workforce development, and succession planning.
- Address employee performance and disciplinary matters as needed.
- Identify potential production issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Manage multiple large, heavy, and complex fabrication projects at the same time.
- Support overall plant operations and other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production.
- Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 ; CWI certification preferred but not required.
- Experience working in an AISC-certified shop or fabrication environment .
- Experience managing large, heavy, and complex structural steel projects.
- Working knowledge of SSPC and ASTM coating requirements .
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication operations, workflows, and shop practices.
- Experience overseeing multiple production departments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to anticipate operational issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong hands-on leadership approach with the ability to work effectively with both supervisors and production employees.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
